I hope the bike is ready for Upper Horton, then we can compare it with Matt’s 280 kit which I liked as even though it increased his torque and horse power it was only mild and did it effect the handling of the bike.
    So here’s hoping

    Hey Aaron,
Teknik Nick and I were toying around with a similar option for the 250X as we both agree that a lighter bike is more fun with more ponies inside, I have a 450X but my friend had a 250X and it was way more fun to ride on single tracks. But with a few more ponies it would stand up in corners and leap tall buildings in a single bound we wreckon and be as exciting as a dung beetle in a cow yard! but for what it’s worth I think you will be impressed with what you can achieve with your idea. if you need any questions answered post it on the Teknik forum and Nick will point you in the right direction.

    cheers

If you and Nick were handed a 250x and an open cheque book what would you do?

I think money spent on fitness, suspension and a week riding school would be well spent than HPower
Give a standard bike to a Pro and he will lap the bling bling rooky every time!!
But hey its your money knock your self out

Ha that is funny Scoty and mostly because it is so true. People with “those” bikes do bag all other bikes. Even though old skippy used to bag them out when he had a DRZ. Not mentioning any names. Nice vid STM. B)

Just an update …. I know this has been dragged out a bit sorry.
But my bike is at Bikes and Bits to get the crank removed to go back as a core. I have been spending a much greater percentage of my small amount of riding on the YZ 450. It will be a tough ask for it to impress for power now. But the single will be the real test. On another note I had a ride on the 2013 CRF 450R at the Bike Territory motocross track. The steering was incredible and the power down low was very manageable. Will be nice to try some of this technology when it filters down to 250 and 450x’s.

Do you think it will be worth doing or just buy a 2banger light and powerfull its going to be about 2,000 or so from what I read.

Good question al. My deep down gut feeling is no. But I am willing to give it a go. After riding the superbly turning 13 CRF450 I found that it still tends to stand you up straight in the berms when you try to get on the gas hard early. No where neer as bad as my YZ. Probably my bad technique?? Hope fully this one I should still be able to ride it like I stole it in the turns but actually go somewhere. If its crap and not worth it I will say so.

Went into Bikes and Bits and had a look at my CRF in a few bits.

She looks a bit sad at the moment but good things are on the horizon.

    Not long to go now!!
But other than this project I have also taken on a circa 2000 KTM 60 for repair which first cab off the rank today I need to get an easy out to remove a broken stud from the kick starter. The bolt is moving but I can only get it to move in.
And last night me and Charlie adjusted the valves on the 426 and they are now in spec.
So I am glad not to have taken on the CRF as there is too many parts floating around in my garage at the moment. :pinch:
