This question is probably aimed at TB.
Is there anyone in Australia manufacturing polyurethane cush drives for the Tenere?
I have only done 1800klms on mine and there are already signs of wear….rubber flaked off and disintegration.
I’m sending my suspension to Teknicks for them to work their magic and have also included the cush drive to have the larger bearing fitted and want to fit polyurethane cush while it’s all apart.

Yeah thats normal, with the twin bearing mod I am getting 10,000 plus now out of mine. The flaking is like a tyre wearing, I worry that the polyurethane ones may wear the hub rather than the rubber :huh: Rubber is cheaper than a hub and I havent seen anyone do any decent miles yet with the polyurethane ones

I dont oil / lube or grease my chain because it is lubed inside the rollers and lubing the outside only gives the sand something to stick and make a very abrasive paste thus wearing your sprockets. There should be no where else oil and grease should come from is there? Every brand uses rubber bushes that I have ever seen

Wigster, call your nearest Yamaha dealer, I recon they would be on the shelf considering the rate they destroy themselves.May 23, 2014 at 11:45 am #256762Get the rubbers from the Germans (off the road). They are heaps cheaper than your local yammy dealer.
June 24, 2014 at 8:01 am #256763Some guys on xt660 have come up with what looks like a very cheap and simple preventative measure. http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?p=113529 for a decent pictorial. Can’t vouch for it, but looked handy.

I cut the rubber bridging off mine making each rubber block seperate and then found an old push bike tube
which I streched over the rubber blocks , cut them off to length and never had an issue since.cheers
DrewyJune 24, 2014 at 11:28 am #256764I fitted the polyeurethane ones from South Africa. They are a nice tight fit, but had a bit of stuffing around to get the wheel assembly to fit into the swing arm. Had to grind a bit off the depth of the “cush rubbers” to make them fit.
They are definitely a harder compound, probably don’t offer as much cushioning but reports are they will last at least 50k.

March 20, 2015 at 9:04 am #259101Off The Road in Germany has Tenere Cush Drive rubbers at a very reasonable rate.
They appear to be made of better, more durable rubber than the OEM ones.They certainly last longer than the OEM product, I am doing some hard riding and getting easy 7,000 k’s from them.
If you get a few sets, and some for your mates, it makes the postage and price well worthwhile.
Check out their site, everything for Tenere’s.
I don’t mind having to change them regularly, it gives you the chance to have a good inspection of the hub, I check mine every tyre change regardless of k’s .
