Yeah it’s true (checked it wasnt April 1st  ) Cyril has left the building  Left to ride a Honda according the media release. So is it the man or the machine that has given him 5 Dakar wins in 12 years? Is it both? Why has Honda signed him? Couldn’t they have bought through an up and coming rider or is it only the French can win Dakar as the years have shown with the bent officials
Read the Red Bull media release here

March 14, 2013 at 4:03 am #238155Well sadly all we can do is wait till next January to find out I guess ???
Will make for a very interesting fortnight that`s for sure
March 14, 2013 at 7:56 am #238165Toby Price will have the pace to win. Question is can he deal with the navigation? I’m going to say no the first time out but if he rides subsequent years he could be a strong contender……much like Kurt Caselli too I reckon.
March 14, 2013 at 8:20 am #238178Cyril will be missed at KTM. What he has done is prepare himself for next year when Grabbo flogs him at Dakar, Cyril can blame the Honda
Grabbo was only doing a sighting lap at this years Dakar, next year he will be killing it on his KTM.

March 14, 2013 at 8:43 am #238156Will at least make things interesting. Honda will be have high expectations and KTM will no doubt put in a big effort to stop Depres.
Early days but if he’s fit my money will be on Coma.

I know he is riding Baja are you confusing the two moto? BTW he just raced one of the Baja 250 races the series that culminates with the 1000 and he finished 4th. Guess who won?
March 14, 2013 at 6:33 pm #238206I know he’s riding the Baja’s but I thought he was doing Dakar too? Maybe not then. I read he going to the US a bunch of times this year to per-run and race some desert events, may I have got my wires crossed.
He needs some time to get used to navigating and at speed. His outright speed is up there with the best of them he just needs more practise/experience and he’ll be a good thing.
As Scotty says Coma will be a tough cookie too.

Yeah been following the US desert racing for years and TP will shake it up which I can’t wait for :woohoo: he won’t qualify for Dakar until after Safaris and other international events and like you said would have to learn to ride fast and navigate. I agree about Coma as well. To quote you Moto from another thread I don’t like that Honda have maybe done a Manchester United with this and not won it with a new team and a up and coming rider. I can see the politics behind them doing it given the corrupt French race officials
