See here http://www.dakar.com/us/DAKAR/2010/teams/starters/9.htmlYou can look up the profile of each competitor
January 12, 2010 at 10:52 am #166232There are actually 4×450`s in the top 10 at the moment (1 aprilia & 3 WRFs)
The rest of the ten is made up of 609 Katos :blink:I think next year will see even more 450`s in the overall field.
January 13, 2010 at 10:42 pm #166233The BMW G450X won it’s first Dakar stage TODAY!!!!!
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:January 14, 2010 at 10:58 am #166234Thats a good win for him Beemer
Was the first real stage with a mixed podium after the Policeman stuffed a lot of riders around on that intersection :laugh:Have to admire Despres though for his skills and strength in this event!!! He is as cool as a cucumber in the lead now to the end
January 14, 2010 at 11:05 am #168197Yes you’re quite right Eagle.
How is their riding skills, full on looong feet up power slides in nearly every corner on tracks they dont know before hand.
A lot of skill there and to keep doing it day after day which are each longer than most of our long dirt rides are.I am impressed :cheer:
January 14, 2010 at 11:31 pm #166235I saw a chinese team in the list on a pair of jincheng’s on jc450’s. I searched jc450 and came back with juicers! And couldn’t get any pics off their website.
But looks like the other 450 teams are going through plenty of engines.January 15, 2010 at 9:16 am #166236:blink: Contardo on the Aprilia 450 is staking his claim on a podium finish big time after stage 12.
Also Fretigne on the WR450 has climbed back dramatically to a close position to the lead.
There are now 5 contenders within 2 hrs of Despres in the lead, so the podium will be a fight to the death I`d say :woohoo:Pending validation by the race stewards, Chilean Francisco Lopez Contardo (Aprilia) offered the Italian constructor a 3rd victory on the 32nd Dakar. More importantly, with a time of 3h48’34, “Chaleco” beat Frenchman David Frétigné (Yamaha) by 40″ and Norwegian Pal Anders Ullevalseter (KTM) by 1’13. As a result, in the general standings, the Chilean takes over 2nd place, now 1’13 ahead of Ullevalseter and 9’34 in front of Portugal’s Helder Rodrigues (Yamaha), so the composition of the final podium is still far from certain! However, there is no suspense for the identity of the overall victor, because the leader, Frenchman Cyril Despres (KTM) is still way out in front, with a lead that now stands at 1.03:42 over “Chaleco” Lopez.
See here for the top 6 positions,
1 002 DESPRES (FRA) KTM 46:10:56 00:00:00
2 009 LOPEZ CONTARDO (CHL) APRILIA 47:14:38 01:03:42
3 004 ULLEVALSETER (NOR) KTM 47:15:51 01:04:55
4 005 RODRIGUES (PRT) YAMAHA 47:24:12 01:13:16
5 012 FRETIGNE (FRA) YAMAHA 47:51:08 01:40:12
6 014 DUCLOS (FRA) KTM 48:04:21 01:53:25January 15, 2010 at 5:47 pm #166237Some excellent pics of DAKA on this link, funny enough theres one of the jc450,wr copy.

January 16, 2010 at 8:48 am #166238Great find TwoBanger,,
I have saved some of those for wallpapersOn the overall standings after the penultimate stage, it is interesting but not really surprising how close the pace has been between the longtime rivals Despres & Coma !!!
If you take off Coma`s penalties which are 6hrs22mins, he is only actually 10mins25seconds slower than Despres after almost 9000ks of racing :woohoo:
The nearest to Despres in second place at the moment is ULLEVALSETER at 1hr4mins12secs
and LOPEZ CONTARDO in third at 1hr8min34secs
How good are the other two ?????????????
January 16, 2010 at 8:56 am #166239Mal 5.1 will be pleased as well to see there is still a SHERCO in the top 30
It is PISANO (FRA) SHERCO in pos 29 at 12hr32min03 behind the lead
January 16, 2010 at 6:08 pm #166240Despres WIns Dakar again
At the end of stage 14, during which his position was never really threatened, Cyril Despres gets his third victory in a Dakar after winning the rally raid in 2005 and 2007. For this last stretch, that was literally a straight line, the KTM rider had a 1h04’20’’ lead on his closest contender in the standings, Pal-Anders Ullevalseter. Naturally, this fairly remote threat was easy to control for the Frenchman who just did what it took to get his bike to the finish line… still at an average speed of 133 km/h.
