December 19, 2011 at 8:33 pm #212557SO not long to go now till the start of the Dakar :woohoo:
As we speak, teams are in Beunos Aires busily unpacking crates, containers etc and preparing to assembly bikes, cars, buggies & trucks
I can only imagine the pre race butterflies & blowups to come in the coming week :laugh:There is a good showing from Aussie contenders this year, more teams with Aussie backing & support, so lets get behind them & hope for all or most of them to get a finishers medal and good placings in their respective categories
BRING IT ON, I LOVE IT
December 30, 2011 at 10:21 am #213432It all kicks off tomorrow :woohoo:
December 30, 2011 at 12:57 pm #212558YEAH, Don`t ya know it :woohoo:

But come tomorrow,
ACTION STATIONSJanuary 1, 2012 at 11:43 am #212559Sad News on day one !!!
Kind of brings home the dangers of our sport, these guys are true professionals and this is also a true tragedy, scarring the event for it`s duration in 2012
You have to feel for the locals as well, as he was an Argentinian (where the race start before heading into Chile)R.I.P Jorge Martinez Boero
January 1, 2012 at 2:39 pm #213901January 1, 2012 at 10:52 pm #212560It will be a thinking mans race this year for sure, new engine rules have the field changing tactics already
The experienced guys like Coma, Despres & co wil be in the prime seat from the get go it seems 😆I would like to see Lopez give it a right royal blitz this year, he is a real contender and can only get better each year after good runs the past two
Nothing like the local knowledgehe has as well :woohoo:
January 2, 2012 at 6:28 pm #212561And today the thinking man Cyril Despres jumped from 13th start to 3rd in one stage :woohoo:
Not attacking the leadearly seems to not be in his handbook this year :laugh:On another note, check out the Crash Compilation from last years event
It`s a crackerSome big offs and some great saves too ,,,,,,,,
January 2, 2012 at 9:21 pm #213940The Aussies are going great do far , here’s an article from Transmoto …
It’s a long way from the shores of the Atlantic to the Peruvian city of Lima overlooking the Pacific but Husaberg Rally Racing’s Rod Faggotter is off to a great start, rocketing from a lowly start in the hundreds to finish Leg 2 in 36th. With a little luck today, Rod will move into a position where competitors start 60 seconds apart, rather than two-up every 30 seconds.
Faggotter’s teammate, Dave Schwarz, is still battling mid pack but, having finished Dakar in both North Africa and South America, Dave knows what it takes to score a Dakar Medallion.
West Aussie, Jamie Chittick, is riding a CRF450X for Honda Europe and has moved through the pack, passing 76 competitors to 83rd position. But it’s Aussie trails champ Dean Nuttall who’s eaten the most dust, roosting his KTM 450 Rally past almost one hundred riders to climb into the top fifty.
Mark Davidson and expat Craig Tarlington are still hanging in, which is all that can be done once the faster autos leave riders in very scary impenetrable dust clouds.
And in the Auto Division former Aussie ISDE representative and Safari competitor Geoff Olholm has climbed from 36th to 25th in the Australian prepped Rally Raid Warrior.
January 3, 2012 at 5:32 pm #212562Flying Frenchman strikes today & takes the lead (thanks to a navigation eror from the leader Coma) and holds a handy 10min lead overall now after stage 3
Now, how`s this for a spectacular off from the Honda mounted (or should I say DISMOUNTED) Quinn Cody from USA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjkHGs2NhXs&feature=player_embeddedLuckily he only suffered from a broken shoulder
Could have been a lot lot worseOn the Aussie front, they are all doing extremely well and Rocket Rod Faggoter is flying
Yesterdays stage had a lot of Finke Style Whoops apparently and he felt right at home…..Dean Nuttall is also ripping it up through the pack on the KTM 450RR, from right down the bottom where he started :woohoo:
Go Boys GO
January 3, 2012 at 6:36 pm #212563It`s proving to be a tough event this year with the new routes in the first 3 days
Already close to 20 bikes withdrawn so far (just about all the Hondas are out on day 3)Will be interesting to see how the mountain stages pan out for the competitors (if there sre any left by then)
BTW, How good is the thoughfulness & concern from fellow riders when Cody crashed ???
At least 3 riders stopped to render assistance (all 3 were in the top ten or there abouts)Awsome stuff
January 3, 2012 at 6:55 pm #213994Nice clips and briefs on what is no doubt the greatest of all off-road races/events
Keep em’ coming :cheer:
I know i’ll be watching SBS at 530 every day :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
