There is only 5sec between Smith and Fish and a further 5sec back to Grabbo
Can’t wait for tomorrows results it should be a ripper.
Best of luck to all the Aussies and ride safe.
And Newy Boy Troy O Connor 5 secs behind Grabbo
Great solid start for the guys, good to have an Aussie group close together or tomorrows stage ,,,Go Boys Go !!!
January 6, 2013 at 7:46 pm #233461“Grabbo said”
Day 2“soild day mostly gritty sand with small and medium size dunes, no big ones, just kept it steady still adapting to the terrain and the GPS, running about 60% my normal pace, but still a long way to go in this rally so wandered along a bit today, prelim results have me 14th for the stage and only 10mins 16secs back from the leader, so that puts me in a top 20 start tomorrow with 1 min start intervals which will help with the dust. Bike is good, though still a little fluffy in the mid range…….got a few of the usual top 10 Dakar boys around me so should be able to settle in ok in the next couple of days……in all, feeling good so far.”
Sounds good :woohoo:

January 7, 2013 at 4:49 am #233465Yeah, His dad was to help out with most of the funding to get them over there, but I think the meeting with the ORLEN Team in Abu Dabhi is what ended up supplying the bike and full support
Being part of the Orlen team will in itself give invaluable information and experience no doubt, they have some very experienced guys on that team as well and are hoping for a good result…
All Troy has to do is ride to his ability for the 2 weeks, and that is a large enough task alone :whistle:I heard today that his dad Terry gets to fly over tomorrow for the rest of the rally and cheer him home , awsome :woohoo:

Yeah but it’s a paid ride like you or I buying a GHR ride I believe isn’t it  that paved the way for the political help to get his entry accepted

He is a man of few words, but I know that he did Safari again and went to Dubais to make sure he would have his entry accepted.
Pretty sure he was going regardless before the ride came up with ORLENI know that I will be there at the pub to shake his hand again on his return whatever his result
January 7, 2013 at 7:01 am #233467I know Troy was keen to go last year, but because he did not ride the Australian safari he did not qualify.
I have known him for a while and my wives family have been friends since the days they lived in Gunnedah. He is a strong competitor and will get a good result if his bike hangs together!January 8, 2013 at 2:08 am #235110How to eat it Dakar style
