January 10, 2014 at 11:45 am #252410Looks like Deiner & Roberts have paired up & Troy was 20 odd positions ahead of them both in 32nd after CP1

Click on the boxes next to the riders and see what waypoint they have cleared, click on the waypoints on the map and it shows positions and times of all thru that point,,,
There was an additional fee the competitors could pay to have there entire track covered for family and associates to follow. Like our Spot trackers I guess
ASO organisers can see every competitors position from the GPS for , safety reasons.

January 16, 2014 at 4:04 am #252413Message from Stephen “The Bear” Tunley on TZ Facebook,
Makes mention of Suttos backed Troy O`Connor and Mark Davidson and how well Troy is going in the final days of the event,,,
Troy is going well and holding 37th place just ahead of Allan Roberts and Shane Deiner a bit back down the field…THE BEAR DOES DAKAR: GO TROY!
I just finished a long chat with Aussie rider Troy O’Connor and he’s in good shape. He hit his ribs hard in a dune today and had light strapping and some very good pills from the Polish team!
He has a great team from Suttos and there is a great sense of camaraderie. Mark Davidson is assisting him and his experience adds some additional value, along with ace tuner Max Sullivan.
Troy’s riding a KTM and it’s performing well – there’s no question the 450 RR is a great bike.
It just such a great shame that these blokes don’t get more coverage and sponsorship – their skills, focus and determination shows that real Aussie spirit and with a few more $$$ we could have two or three blokes in the top 20 and from there it’s not too far to being a genuine contender! – Stephen ‘The Bear’ TunleyJanuary 16, 2014 at 4:36 am #252414January 16, 2014 at 4:40 am #253258EAGLE`02 wrote:If it wasn’t photoshopped he may have gotten in trouble

January 16, 2014 at 6:29 am #253259The rider looks like he has joggers on?????
January 16, 2014 at 7:17 am #252415Rider is Riaan Van Niekerk of South Africa and it is a legit pic apparently
I have seen it in larger size and they are boots he is wearing not sneakers,
hTink I saw it on the highlight vids as well come to think of it a few days ago
Hope his lid was on the bottle :silly:
January 16, 2014 at 7:42 am #253271I think it might be a legit pic also
It would be hard to photoshop the sand over him and poor old Mr. Etienne does seem to have his shadow in the dust.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers
Murph
P.S. on having a second look maybe it is shopped
Dark lines/shadows down his left leg and the lack of a body shadow. The tree shadow shows the sun is low on the RH side of the pic yet no shadow from Mr. Etienne is thrown onto the sand. :silly:
Analyse that.
Cheers
Detective Murph :laugh:January 19, 2014 at 9:59 am #252416Well I have to get myself to the Blackbutt next week to buy Troy a few beers and shake his hand

Second attempt and he has done it, and in 37th place.
Shane Deiner 38th and Allan Roberts 39th,,,
All 3 remaining Aussies got to finish across the finish podium as a team :woohoo:Aussies on the finish line together as a team
