Well for those of you that know Dan you won’t be surprised by the title of the thread. For those of you that have never had the pleasure of meeting the big fella here is another example of his good work
He made this awesome clock that I received at Louee. The clock hangs pride of place at home.
So after some discussion over some rums the other week at Dan’s we decided that we needed to give something back to thank our sponsors and supporters that keep OBT free.
We decided some of these clocks with the new OBT emblem and a thanks would be just the ticket and not cost us too much. The time and the effort that goes into the clocks to be manufactured to the incredibly high standard that Dan does them is where the effort is.I travelled up to Dan’s the other day and we spent some time in the shed going over the project and organising a plan of attack (and draining a cartoon of rum
)
We went out and purchased all the nuts, bolts, timber and clock mechanisms and bludged some sprockets and discs.
Dan has then spent hrs and hrs making these, etch priming the sprockets, painting the sprockets, joining the timbers, gluing the timbers, routing the timbers, drilling the holes, staining, clear coating, fitting the mechanisms, the thank you plaques and the hanging chains
I am doing this to say thanks publicly to you Dan because its things like this and supporting the sponsors etc that are the only thing keeping the site free trust me.
THANKS MATE
Some pic’s of the process
Two pieces of timber are joined together with key joints and glued
Out of the jig and ready for the next step
The hole for the mechanism is routed out
All the sprockets and Disc’s have to be cleaned extra hole drilled for the 12 required holes, then etch primed and painted
The Disc or Sprocket is mounted to the timber
Stainless steel nuts and bolts we purchased
The back has to have all the bolt holes recessed
Starting to get there, different this one to mine
And a sticker / plaque that looks like this, but will say support instead of sponsorship
Great work mate you are a legend, it is people like you that makes OBT everything it is.

AnonymousThanks for the appreciation TB and everyone else. It does mean a lot.
The clocks do take a bit of time to put together, but in reality it is a small thing to do to help out with OBT.
OBT does mean a hell of a lot to both me and Kylie and even the little D’s. This is mainly because of the great people we have met through OBT and the friendships that we have with our brother and sister Old Bulls. And the riding that is good too
After I made the clock for TB and stood back and had a look at it, I thought to myself shit that does look good. Hopefully all of our sponsors that recieve these clocks will hang them in their shops with pride knowing that they are part of a great group of people.
