You are a top bloke Dan and you make a quality product. It shows the OBT spirit when you guys came up with the idea to make the clocks. I’m sure the sponsors will appreciate them.
Good work mate.
November 28, 2009 at 7:49 pm #163078Top stuff Dan, I have some nice slabs of timber here that I am happy to donate to the cause.
I will send them down with Moose sometime soon.
One piece of Rosewood from a massive tree felled in 1923 on Comboyne (according to my 99 year old Grandfather.)The slab is about 4ft long x about 2 foot wide and 1 1/2 inch thick. It will save you from having to join pieces together. It also smells great!! I have been saving these slabs for years, waiting for the right project and his seems like a great cause.
I will also send a smaller slab of toona australis (Red cedar) also from Comboyne.
Keep up the good work mate.
Cheers

Those slabs will make the best Clocks ever 😆Special pieces of timber those ones are, you also are a top bloke to give them up for another project like that
CheersNovember 28, 2009 at 9:13 pm #163079After we spoke the other day about that timber Mick we decided we needed to get it happening and didnt know when we could get the timber from you. But yes there will be a need for more later and there was some talk about a LIMITED run of clocks that people on the site could order and have custom made for their own house. Details would have to be sorted but there was some thought about it, if people are interested

AnonymousI have done some more work this arvo on the OBT sponsor clocks, drilling additional holes in the sprockets that Sutto’s supplied and puttying up some knots etc.
Tomorrow arvo I will do some sanding and staining, then start on the clear coats. Put them all together and then I’m done.
After that they will be ready for TB to take them for the site sponsors
I will be having a break from the clock making for a while after my current orders have been filled as I dont want to over do it and lose the passion for making them.
Except for the one that I am going to make for myself

December 3, 2009 at 11:09 pm #163870Dan and TB if you need a hand just yell, My other passion was cabinetmaking and general woodwork, for a lark I make clocks every now and then as presents and thanks yous etc for some of the club and community organisations I’ve been involved with over the years.
Similar thing but usually out of E. Maculata (spotted Gum) or E. Pilularis (coastal Blackbutt what you see in the watties)Red Mahog etc, offcut 12″ x 2″ joinery pieces I have lying around.
Never used a sprocket as the dial face though, sometimes 12″ sawblades instead.
Yell if need be.

December 8, 2009 at 4:49 am #163912The first of the sponsors clocks was handed over today. Chris couldn’t make it as he is so busy this time of year so apologies to Chris Sutto and Mal where made on his behalf
One behalf of OBT the clock was handed over, all liked it and thought it the be a work of art. The clock was then put up on the wall and Mal gave us a profile shot of himself as well
On behalf of Chris Myself the admin team and all the members thanks Dan and keep them coming
