I’m sure that you can add it a bit of Watagans early on in the ride to beef it up a little considering that the ride is pretty much all fire trail.i’ll support it. it’s a lovely idea
We are no longer going to Denman, because the gate issue cannot be guaranteed we will not be going there. The ride will still have a lunch somewhere, maybe a pub but it will still be a great ride out around the Putty area.
nope. I think we can’t do it. the round 1 & 2 of the nsw enduro series has closed that road to the basin
below is an email from central coast dirt riders (host club of the event) in regard to road closures effecting our ‘denman’ ride
hi tracey & rodney
that ride should be fine the road closures are walkers ridge from cr500 corner to the basin rd & murrys forest rd which want affect your ride.the viewing of tests from that end will not be possible.cheers

AnonymousOK get your maps out. According to the topographical map that we have of the area there is an alternative route. Probably a little bit longer but not overly. So take a look and see what you think.
Starting from the pines. Turn back down the Watagan Forest Road heading back down the mountain. Veer right at the fork which continues as Watagan Forest Road (if you veer left you would go down Martinsville Hill Road and end up at Martinsville i.e. old red phonebox now gone). Go past Hitchcocks lane and Whitemans Ridge road and turn right down Siding Road (I don’t know how bad this track is). After 3kms on this road veer right then right again and you would end up on Ravensdale Road (tar). Turn right at Ravensdale Road and after 1km veer left onto Brush Creek Road. After about 10kms you reach Walkers Ridge Road (the Letter A) and you can continue as normal after that. From my calculations this would add about 10kms to the trip then going the normal route.
But as I’ve said I have not been down Siding Road or anywhere from then until the Letter A. It appears that there are no locked gates on this route but obviously without ever going that way I can’t be sure.
But this is only an alternative. TB is probably already working on another destination which is better than this idea anyway. So just keep it in mind.

I already had two back up plans organised before the gate issue I always do like the Hillend ride, both included lunches, places for the service vehilce and fuel stops, you have been to St Aburns before this I think will be all new, its up to you guys

AnonymousDanD and I are up for anything that you have come up with TB (except anything that involves handcuffs and whips). This was only a backup idea just in case. We would much rather ride somewhere that we haven’t seen before. However one day when we have time me and DanD might do the Siding Road to see how it is.
March 20, 2009 at 8:45 am #116822Good idea guys,
Lets leave sunday as planned (well sort of as planned)
I`m sure TB has a good day up his sleeve anyway,,,,,,Lets do that Siding Rd as another day trip soon, the more rides we can get together the more fun we get:woohoo: After Easter sometime maybe ?? I`m keen to tag along

AnonymousWTF is a gimp ball? Scrap that, I don’t want to know. Don’t need no more ideas. Yes at a later date we will post an ‘exploratory ride’ and go where no one has gone before.
