Started off getting up pretty early and lounging in the pool trying to clear my head from the night before
Didn’t happen
Arrived at the Pines to meet Dusty and Flappers but no Diddel???
Waited for a while before going to have a look at Pines picnic ground just in case the others were there. On arriving back tf2 and Diddel were unloading their bikes so I must of missed them by minutes.
Diddel said he had no real plan mapped out and that was apparent before too long. We did a nice little test hill below Muirs lookout. Some took a few attempts at it but in the end we all got to the top :woohoo: Plenty of rock steps most of which were down hill which suited me as it was getting hot and I was still real seedy
Got lost a few times, took a few of those dead end tracks the the Wato’s is renowned for but much to Diddels credit we also found some very sweet singles :woohoo:
Came accross Dusty off and washing some dust off at one slippery deep puddle. He was OK though :woohoo:
3/4’s through the day and Flappers gets a rear puncture so we find the main rd and he and Dusty head off home. (I’m glad he didn’t take up my offer of helping to repair it as it was just too hot)
Did some more trails one which had a six foot deep wash out cut straight accross the track  Thanks to someones effort of lying some logs just before the gap we were able to jump over it :woohoo:
Thanks fellas for a challenging ride :woohoo: :woohoo:
Had a Subway on the way home and finished the day where I started, lounging in the pool
Cheers
MurphNovember 15, 2009 at 1:41 am #161089if there was a competition running for
“The Worlds Last Wild Man” you would get my nomination Murph.
top effort by you with the night you had before the ride. There were some sweet long singles found.
Bloody Dribble organises a ride and turns up late.
That hill got the heart going.
Diddel mentioned there was a track were you had to jump over a six foot wash out/creek. (didnt tell us where it was)when i came flyig round the corner i saw it in front of me and hit the brakes sliding straight for it. managed to just pull up in time to turn around and go back and jump over it.At the end when we were supposed to be heading back to the cars i could see Diddel taking new “unexplored routes” even though he told us we were heading back. Hes like a puppy when you take them to the beach then tell em its time to go home. they start running off and taking different ways just keen to stay for that bit longer. When you put the lead on them for disobedience they give you that look
Nice to meet some new faces.
cheers
tf2November 15, 2009 at 1:44 am #161090One other thing i just thought of.
when i took a Les Kiss at the end of the ride the piss was bright orange even after drinking 3 litres of water in camelback and a endura. was very dehydrated. plenty of beers when i got home seemed to fix it.
November 15, 2009 at 6:34 am #161091No use getting there early as you elderly gents don’t have to stamina to last all day anyway   .
I had fun :woohoo:.
November 15, 2009 at 9:46 pm #161107settle down there young diddel….give us old fellas some credit for being keen ah mate…we might be older but we still enjoy a ride. i pulled out on old foresty map when i got home of the area and i’m sure i’ve been on some of those tracks although it was a while ago and i did’nt reckonise any. Thanks for organising it diddel and good to meet tf2 and flapper. Thanks murgh for sweepin me up along the way too mate.
i’ll try to finish next time diddel.
