May 31, 2009 at 8:41 am #111461Please allow me this little indulgent rant.
Damn muther fubbin fools of car drivers who can only do teh speed limit or just over when teh road is straight of there is a bloody overtaking lane.
Yet again today I was stuck behind slowpokes down Macquarie Pass (me and they in car) and was often down to 25kmh around corners. Christ, I even had to hit first gear in my fully sick supremely powerful 1.3 litre Suzuki Cino.
Get to teh bottom where it goes to 100kmh and the same cars speed up to 80kmh on the straight, but wait a corner so they brake and we are back down to 40kmh. Now to explain the corner the advisory sign says 75kmh and it is a quick corner, even my wife takes if at near the advisory, but not these guys.
So we dawdle some more and we get to the dairy which has a nice straight and we are still going 80kmh, so car in front pulls out to overtake as all clear and I follow. Both bloody slowpokes accelerate, not to teh speed limit but beyond and I ended up doing near $1.30 to get in front.
Now there were corners after this straight so over the next 7 or so kays to Albion Park I pulled enough time to stop at the servo, go inside, get a drink and a chocolate, pay and come out before either of the two sloepokes had gone past.
So, my dislike is idiots who can only drive at the speed limit when there are bloody overtake chances.

Only thing that shirts me is I should now be on my full R license, but NO some knob in canberra decided that i now have to spend 12 month on my red Ps.
Dont have to re attend any test anymore.
May 31, 2009 at 9:08 am #137454You used to be able to ask for a mature aged exemption (which kinda hurts a bit) at the RTA office when you go in to pay. Then you only have the alcohol and pillion restrictions for 12 months. That was the deal when I got mine 4 or 5 years ago anyway.

Finally got my license after close to two years of L’s. My dislike, well it took 6 hours of talking and riding around an outside basketball court before actually taking the test which took all of 2 minutes.
Go around a left bend at 20 kph
Go around a right bend at 20kph
Swerve to the left at 20kph
Swerve to the right at 20kph
Stop.Unbelevable
May 31, 2009 at 9:40 pm #137459hey gco had the same issue coming down macquarie pass yesterday except we were in the car and the slowpoke was a bike. on L’s and in the rain, i reckon he was the one hitting first gear and making everyone else follow suit. at least he was consistent though, we got passed him/her on the straight at the bottom.
