for what purpose is packing the grease in the hub?? I personally dont see any benefit really.it just sits in there and goes round and round, not even likely to touch the bearings.

Yeah thats what I have been saying when using quality grease you don’t really need to. Multi purpose grease which isnt designed for wheel bearings would benefit from having the hubs packed because it will melt and then run through the bearings and hub.
I just put grease in the hub more out of habit and because if a bearing started running hot it would eventually melt and help get to the closed Pub before the wheel falls off

Thanks TB,That is why I asked, since I have been using the high speed bearing grease I have never packed a hub or bearing cap.

    Thanks for that.

the only reason i asked is that when i was shown how to do it over twenty years ago i was told to pack the dust cover. Other than that it is identical to what you have shown. ;)

Hey TB, your videos will be of great assistance. My bike trailer has been doing some km’s lately and I was guessing it is a job that needs to be done. Never done it before so your video will be a great starter.

PS I think you duplicated one of the video’s and you may have one that you need to post to complete the sequence.

    Thanks again.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with Bearing Buddies (i think that is what they are called)
Its where there is a grease nipple in the dust cover.

I have twice seen people pump them so full of grease that the bearings and hubs are so full or grease they have overheated on long faster trips and failed wheel bearings.

I think that they are good for boat trailers when they get backed into the water and local slower trips.

I’ve have had them on my 8×5 boxie/bike trailer for 8 years!

with out knowing the exact k’s

it would have to be close to 20/ 30,000

have only adjusted the bearings once,

trailer gets hooked on to car and dragged over everything that gets in its road!

Carts firewood every winter for 2 house holds (over 6 t)

    i love them
