Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone, Iv got a mate that has had a major gearbox blow up on his Dr 650 which has totally buggered the engine with only the head left as a usable part :( so if anybody has one or knows someone that might have one then anything would be of interest. It’s lucky that he’s got something else to rely on in the shape of a WR250   as the Dr was his main form of transport !!!.
    Any inf would be appreciated
    Thanks

Wow, I didn’t know DR’s could be killed in any way!

Might be worth checking out the ADV forum as well (many of us are members there as well) because DR’s are par for the course over there. I can’t recall any being wrecked or parted out but it can’t hurt to ask.

    Go the WR250!

thanks for the tips guys but he’s already tried all of the suggestions :( like you said, did’nt think they could be killed but this one has let go in a big way, I saw the split motor today and it’s ugly  it seems that the 3rd gear cog has broke into 3 pieces and bits have gone everywhere taking chunks out of everything including the piston skirt, conrod and the upper crankcase at the rear of the barrel !!.
he was looking for a different motor(GS 500 I think he said) to maybe graft into the frame as he’s already done loads of work setting it up for some adventure riding.

Holy Moly, DRs just don’t have that happen, never not once I’ve ever heard of, although I have heard of one that wore out a topend after Oh 100,000 klicks or so.
Suzuki being suzuki he may find that another model shares the cases and major components.
