Awesome ride on the weekend with all this rain we’ve had! It’s been heat and dust ever since I moved here but now it’s TOTALLY different … and sh*tloads of fun :woohoo: Hope it stays this way??
Anyhoo, with a little incident in a DEEP creek my boots got completely saturated (which happens when they’re completely underwater) and taking ages to dry. I’d rather they didn’t get all stinky and gross … so any tips for getting them dry?

February 4, 2013 at 4:17 am #236295Some options;
Pack them with some newspaper to help absorb the moisture.
If you have an old stylr lead light with a light globe rather than an LED type you can put it in the boots and turn it on, the heat from the globe will help dry them.
Borrow the wifes hairdryer or blow some com[pressed air into them.
I usually just leve mine to dry naturally, some time I give the insides a rinse out with the hose to flush out muddy or stinky water that I may have been through.
February 4, 2013 at 4:19 am #236296Fill two old footy socks with kitty litter and jam down into boots put them into foot area as far as possible and they draw out the water just like pee out of a cat
February 4, 2013 at 4:35 am #236297Stuff them with newspaper mate and leave overnight then re-stuff.

February 4, 2013 at 4:43 am #236299I was in almost chest deep water on saturday, checking the depth of some of the creeks but my boots will be left to dry naturally
Only because I couldn’t be bothered mucking around and probably wont need them for another two weeks. Have heard newspaper works but you would have to replace it a few times.
Snowy has a great idea with the kitty litter
Cheers
MurphFebruary 4, 2013 at 5:10 am #236298I normally do as Jeffro mentioned,
Give them a hose out if wet or crappy and let dry out in a well ventilated spot. Upside down for a day or two then on their side.Just not like TB did in his carport & got them ripped  :pinch:
I tried the newspaper but usually forget to swap or remove it and end up trapping moisture in too long :S
February 4, 2013 at 5:42 am #236301Like the others have said stuff with balled up newspaper, change a couple of times then finish off in a cool place out of the sun.
Good idea with the Kitty Litter (dont use it after the Cats done his Biz tho   )
When they are dry you can get some warm Lanolin or Linseed oil and give it a good wipe out both inside and out to help preserve the leather.
Hey Razz did you go into Maria SF ? you gotta watch out for some of those creeks the 4×4’s have done agood job on a lot of them.

February 4, 2013 at 6:46 am #236309I’ve gone a combination of the hair dryer, and newspaper … only coz I dont have a cat. Didn’t think of oiling them after though, so good tip there!
Not Maria SF Ollie, went down to Rollands Plains with the guys down there, awesome fun!!
February 4, 2013 at 7:53 am #236312Kittylitter in the socks works a bloody treat and its re-useable. Dries nine overnight and yah back on the trails next day with dry boots, helmets, now there’s a problem.

February 4, 2013 at 8:23 pm #236337Yeah Ollie, it was fantastic … The creeks were flowing (quite high actually), the loam was wet, had some grippy bits, slippery bits, boggy bits … Everything except dust
There was one red clay hill climb, a heavily rutted Biatch that sent me flying off into the bush right at the end of the day! Spent the next 15 minutes in a desperate struggle to stop my bike sliding down the side of the hill into the gully below! Exhausted, but no tears
