I agree Mr Menace, the other KTM300 I ride with carries it’s weight even higher than yours and the rear suspension is a nightmare on those little logs I hopped yours over.
Boony if you’re a biggish bloke and you can get the bike down to 125 wet you’d be laughin’ cause as Mr Menace said his is light to him, but I reckon he’s got a few pounds on me.
Gotta say tho Menace those motors are still the most versatile and friendly unit around, lugs like Thomas, and the forks remind of what WP was in the 80’s top notch.
By crikey I love riding Motorbicycles around the scrub, but I will not enjoy riding anything else around the scrub…..
there just for you Bud

October 9, 2009 at 1:51 am #155669I have ridden with you twice Boony and I have to say honestly I feel your problem is not the bike or the weight of the bike its your lack of bike fitness. When we stopped for lunch on the Jurds ride your where rooted, more then one person said it. I know it wasnt the stuff you are used to riding in etc but if you rode more your muscles you use on the bike would get stronger for riding the bike.
Yes you will gain so much from setting bars up etc bike fitness is a big thing mate the more often I ride the better I can ride more comfortably for longer.
Just a thought I had regarding this thread this morning, I am not having a shot at you just trying to share some experince

October 10, 2009 at 9:51 am #155759Operation headlight change..
Removing the old light was alright?
however the brackets need the forks removed to take then off
Got the little sucka
old against new bracket
Theres that pesky stubby holder again.
not quite finished, still needs positioning correctly and the blinkers need to be wired into the outside lights,,it wont win a beauty comp but hey ya get that.
Regards
BoonyOctober 10, 2009 at 10:02 am #155932Thats about 1kg off Boony. Next should be them Blinkers. DRZ’s must be in the Guiness Book of Records for the world biggest motorcycle blinkers. The bloody things weight 200g each with their brackets.
October 10, 2009 at 10:09 am #155936yeh i`m going to see if I can wire up the 2 outside small lights as blinkers,if not there will be small ones going on the front the same as the back…

October 10, 2009 at 7:34 pm #155942ugly looking thingy I know beages, but beauty is a price i`m willing to sacrifice for weight, this thing is so light compared to the standard light, and I can raid the kitchens down lights if I blow a bulb :woohoo: .
I am looking for some yella contact the same colour as the plastics on the narny to sprouce it up a bit.
predator versus narny.,
Number 5 is alive,

AnonymousIt was interesting to note the comments above regarding fitness as I was going to post something along the same lines a few days ago until my laptop gave up. Strangely within hours my mobile battery died (permanently) too
Anyway, the best way to shed some pounds off is to shed them from yourself. It will make you fitter, feel better, have more energy, get more horn from the wife and help reduce your total bike/rider weight package.
It always used to make me laugh when I was racing mountain bikes and some boys would spend stupid amounts of monet to save just a couple of grams (yes grams, not Kg’s), yet they could do with losing a couple of thousend grams themselves
Again, as per other posts, I’m not saying your fat Boony, but I would bet most of us would benefit and could do with losing a few Kegs
I’m going to start tomorrow
October 11, 2009 at 2:58 am #155933Boony beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but bugger me thats bloody ugly in my opinion that is  (sorry buddy)
And as far as the down lights go if you ever have to ride at night they are as handy as a kick in the kegs I know I had a light with them once :blink:For about a kilos saving you are hard core mate
The yellow will help it for sure
