Quote:It was interesting to note the comments above regarding fitness as I was going to post something along the same lines a few days ago until my laptop gave up. Strangely within hours my mobile battery died (permanently) too :blink:Anyway, the best way to shed some pounds off is to shed them from yourself. It will make you fitter, feel better, have more energy, get more horn from the wife and help reduce your total bike/rider weight package.
It always used to make me laugh when I was racing mountain bikes and some boys would spend stupid amounts of monet to save just a couple of grams (yes grams, not Kg’s), yet they could do with losing a couple of thousend grams themselves
Again, as per other posts, I’m not saying your fat Boony, but I would bet most of us would benefit and could do with losing a few Kegs
I’m going to start tomorrow
It is so true! One thing many OB’s have in common besides the love of riding bikes in the bush is carrying a few kg’s too many. I could benefit from losing 5 right now. I am 6’1″ and am currently 93kg. Any time I am sub 90 I feel heaps better on and off the bike. I am going to start a ‘biggest loser’ style thread were those interested sign up to it and have to report in every week. We can follow each others progress which is one of the best motivations to stay on track.
Thoughts?

AnonymousHey Boony, you know I love you but…. harden the fark up.
I weigh 58kgs (read 59 but wishing 58) and my bike is 125kgs wet. I don’t know how much you weigh but the accountant in me says that to keep the same sort of ratio you would need to be roughly 65kgs. I’m not gonna guess how much you weigh but it’s probably more than this.
I find my bike heavy but everytime I go out on it (I do get out probably more often than you though because I try to get out on average once a month at least) I find that it is easier to pick up every time I go out. And I know that you are not just referring to the fact that it might be heavy to pick up but also the ease of throwing it around in single trail maybe. The WRR might have an advantage there, I don’t know. I love my WR.
I mention all of this because when I first got my WR I baulked at the weight and thought I would never be able to pick it up. 90% of the time I can now (except on that hill Eagle  ).
In saying all this I think that you should try to get as much weight off it as you can because it all helps.
So next time you are cursing the DR because it’s a fatty just think of my little chicken arms.
And it was a drop not an off

October 11, 2009 at 10:01 am #156028people,people,people,,I mentioned at the start of this thread that I was trying to take some of the excess weight off the DRZ and the threads turned into some kind of (toughn up,or buy another brand bike and all kinds of other suggestions)sheez..I joked about beating a ktm and a klx due to have some fun at louee with these brand of bikes. i was never trying to take mammoth amounts of weight off my bike. And yes the light surround was always going to be recieving some yellow graffics of some sought, this is a new style of surround and I am going to give it a wirl.
Thinking should keep ideas quiet from now on.Boony
