Does anyone know of a replacement gear shift that is longer than standard to suit a DRZ400.
I am finding that the space between the foot peg and the shift tip is too close with my size 12 boot.Gotowo

Maybe if you had a good welder or an engineering shop close by they could add a piece in for you, just a thought.

March 22, 2009 at 8:20 am #126434if it is made of steel it would be easy to extend but if it is aloy like most are these days i would not try and extand it cutting and welding it would weaken it to much and they are made of a very high grade aloy
March 22, 2009 at 8:25 am #126414Hey mate,
I have the same problem with my size 13.
I lifted the gear lever up 1 spline or 2 not sure but it made a huge difference:)
There is a mob that do custom levers but are not cheap, try http://www.mainmoto.com.au I think they are called hammerhead and have a lot of bling value if that floats your boat.PS You know what they say about big feet.

Hi All
There are 3 answer for you.
Cut and weld or after market ( Hammerhead gear leavel)
You could cut your left foot depending on how keen you are.April 8, 2009 at 6:04 am #128507
AnonymousThe Hammerhead Design gearshifter as sold at the website that Holeshot posted up and also BTO sports in the US are excellent. You can order them in a number of different lengths and configurations to suit your personal preference. They even look good
I think they are get what you pay for product.
April 8, 2009 at 7:31 am #128511an engineer shop with a tig will be able to weld an alloy one without any problem.
or if you can get a couple of broken ones and post them to me i could do one up 4 you. PM me if you are interested. you would need to work out exactly how long you need it.

April 8, 2009 at 10:18 am #126416What I have done is use a hammerhead tip only.
You need to remove the original tip from the lever and then fit the hammerhead tip. The hammerdead tips come in 5, 10, 15, or 20mm extra lenth.
To fit the hammerhead tip you will need to drill out a larger hole for the pin and grind away a bit of the original lever so the tip ends up at right angles to the lever, probably about 1 hours work.
Not sure how much the tip only is because Michael at mainmoto imports provided it free of charge after I tried to get a KX450 lever to fit, it doesnt by the way (finer spline). I sent him photos and details for fitting the tip only, so to his credit he said return the lever less the tip. A lever and tip is about $140.00.
