well handed the plates back on the DRZ as it will be a while before she runs under her own power after that little front sprocket problem i had between Hill End and Sofala (thanks again for the lift Steve :) )
decided to do a rebuild as no doubt there will be other issues to be expected from a 12yo bike like the swing arm bearings etc.
so once i get the garage cleared I’ll order a gasket kit and a new bottom cam and get started.
Any tips, advice and or parts will be greatly appreciated :cheer:

will be a slow process due to time and coin but i will keep it posted

I have heard the oil pump has a plastic thingy that moves ur oil around the motor that is worth keeping an eye on.

righto, been away for the forum for a while :( ,
finally got the drive shaft, and started to strip the DRZ
    but…..
anyone know how the hell do you get the bloody swing arm bolt out? the bludger is jammed in tight.
looked at youtube and some other forums, someone suggested a home made puller which i may try and make tomorrow

    so anyone?

Yep a puller or, a cheaper way if you’re doing the swing arm bearings anyway, get her stable on the deck or secured to a stand and belt six shades of shit out of her with a drift and mallet. Mine was stuck fast not seized though and a drift worked the trick… just not sure what it’ll do to the bearings if your’e planning on keeping the ones you got. ;)

righto, that home made puller worked a treat,
little bit of thumping required but it came out eventually,

motor is out, so now starts the fun bit :)

the cr that i done up was siezed in there that bad after 6 days of penetrating oil and a rather large sledgehammer i ended up dropping the motor out and forks and outting it in a 20 tonne press and pushing it out
