Well I have been trying different tyres on the Tenere, as I mentioned in the first post, the bike came with Dunlop 606’s front and back. I didnt think much of them at the time but now I think maybe they did a good job and I was to hard on them. I used a set of Pirelli MT21’s and got nearly 4000kms from rear with good drive in all conditions much like the 606. The front wore badly because of the low pressure I ran all the way back from Cobar I think. I tried a TCK80 continental rear and it didnt suit myself or the bike or mud  I got 3500kms from it

As every Adventure ride includes bitumen it can be a compromise finding a tyre that does everything. I like an aggressive front for the dirt but that means it wears quick, I am happy with that but I always end up with the knobs heel and toeing. To explain this the back side of the knob wears back at a sharp angle while the leading edge doesnt seem to wear at all. I have tried different pressures and it just seems that running road legal knobbies will do this  The biggest difference I see with the legal knobbies are the knobs are bigger

I fitted an enduro (non legal) tyre with smaller knobs a while back and tried it. It was awesome on the dirt and seemed ok on the bitumen although I could notice the knobs flex when pushed but you dont ride like that on public roads right.

After some research I found Dunlop do a road legal small knob tyre the Dunlop K907 some good ride ups on ADV. I rang Sutto’s and Scott ordered one in for me, had in the next day. Looks like it would suit the XR more

My theory is the smaller knobs wont heel and toe. Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained
