May 14, 2012 at 2:30 am #221749All good bones…mine too.
Unfortunately the only riding testing i will be doing before the big ride is sitting on the bike making vroom vroom noises
It will be good to take it on it’s first adv ride with some oldbulls to capture those awkward moments on camera

May 14, 2012 at 9:06 pm #220267Depending on who is riding the return leg on the Sunday, other than Me & Bones,,, (Ace is returning home sat arvo)
I am looking at doing the run up to Rylstone and across the Bylong Valley , It is a scenic route that will be a quicker option for the run home if required after the weekends activities :whistle:Lunch at a pub in Denman maybe before making the call on a run thru the Comission Rd and over Yango & Watagans. Bones could split from Denman back to Singleton and that may leave me on a solo run for the rest, but that`s fine
Will see how the weekend goes (weather may play a big part) & make a call early on the sunday morning
May 18, 2012 at 9:25 pm #220268Doing a pre ride thru the Wattos to Bucketty on Monday (RDO day)
Never taken notice of timeline from my place to there , so it will help me set my departure time with Strucky to make the meet point by 7amWill probably do the run up Murrays Run & out to Yango and the Creek RD to Wollombi on the return run (its always a cracker up there)
All is looking good for the leadup to the Birthday ride, just need to sort my gear and work out what I am gettin gPTW to drag down for me
Am still leaving options open for the return ride on the Sunday, depanding on the weather and energy levels after the saturday night “Ring of Knowledge” :S
Bring it On already
May 19, 2012 at 8:41 pm #220269Welcome Flying Fish to the friday mystery tour
Looks like we will have a great weekend ahead of us.
I have pm`d Bones to arrange for FF to ride to the meet point with him, ALyssa & Stephen have volunteered to cart some camping gear if necessary to lighten the load on the bikes for you.Ace is fine to find his way to the Wall on friday morning, I am just waiting on Strucky to make his final call and I am ready to roll
Pre ride tomorrow to check times for me as well as a double check on the time & klms back to Wollombi Tav for Bones,,,
Looks like we might have the pleasure of riding back with MickP & GavB on the Sunday as well (some great blokes and a wealth of experience to boot) They rode down & back last year also
BRING IT ON :woohoo:
May 20, 2012 at 4:42 pm #220270Just got back from the pre ride to Bucketty
Cracker of a morning, with plenty of mist about and more than a fair share of Wallabies & other wildlife on the trails
All looks good for the departure time I had thought for me & Strucky to hit the road around 5.45am in the dark to traverse the Watagans via Cooranbong. I took my time and even stopped at Freemans for fuel to allow for slow going in the dark as well ,,,,
Ended up heading back up to Laguna then back up Watagan Creek Rd thru the valley and back across the Mountains, also headed up to Hunter & Maclean Lookouts cause it was so much better than being at work :woohoo:Ended up doing about 260klm, no time for pics cause I was having too much fun 😆
How are you guys enjoying work today ????????????For the rcord Bones it is 24klms from Wollombi Tav to the turnoff at the wall mate. It is a right hand turn (posted “WISEMANS FERRY” about 150m past the Observatory turnoff which is signposted as well.
We will be on the right another 50m where there is a wooden fence and a sign “BUCKETTY WALL”
Pretty sure Ace is fine with directions to get there ,,,,,See you guys there
May 20, 2012 at 6:40 pm #222146No work for me today Eag’s but still plenty to do.
I had thought about being a ride whore and joining your group as well as getting someone to lug my other bike and gear down for the Saturday ride but will just drive down instead. I don’t have to work on the Monday either so will probably ride Sunday as well.

No worries mate,,,
We will just have to Ride Whore it without ya :laugh:If you change your mind,,,, there are guys close by that could possibly take your DRZ down . There are also the WR`s down there , nobody would notice one missing for the day would they ???? :silly:
May 20, 2012 at 8:41 pm #220271Thanks EAGLE you are a legend. Just got back myself its a wonder we didn’t cross paths . I was moaning about not getting
time to test ride the bike loaded and do a prerun to bucketty to the little lady this morning and she suggested today every
thing else can wait . So I spent some time getting my gear to gether and strapped to the bike and go away about 11.30.
Found the spot you’ve mentioned , will take me 90 minutes to get there from Singo taking it slow so maybe a 5 to 5.15
start from this end to meet at 7am but all good.
Bike does handle a little different when loaded seems to move around it the back end a bit , maybe just tyre
pressures
bones
May 20, 2012 at 8:48 pm #220272I had long crossed into the Watagans from Laguna by 11 mate and was home around midday
Good to see you are sorted though.Looks as though we have similar distances to travel to meet there , all good
May 21, 2012 at 1:48 am #222147Yeah thanks for rubbing it Eags and Bones.
What a top day for a ride eh! What were the tracks like?
Will a lap this weekend with the fully packed bike just to get the feel of the weight. Might need to get some tips on tyre pressure with the bike loaded on the road/trail tyres. What do you reckon i should run??
Cheers,
May 21, 2012 at 11:35 am #222206A big question at the moment Ace . TB mention in another thread after DJ destroyed a mitis eo9 that he runs
28psi in the rear when loaded I had 24psi in the rear yesterday and tended to track the ruts in the road a bit
on mainly black top but seemed ok on the little bit dirt I covered . Maybe someone with more experence can
shed some more light .
Was a great day for a ride yesterday

May 23, 2012 at 11:57 pm #220273Things are looking real good for the round trip now (apart from the cold weather)  All part of the Adventure hey ????
The Sunday return leg will be a different route up towards Kandos, Bylong, Denman and across the range back home
This will be a good run also with as much dirt as possible, to make the Sunday different to the friday run down.
We now also have MickP & GavB along to help on the return leg ,,,,
Many thanx to TB & Mick for sorting out the options for thisGreat 3 day warmup ride for you Flying Fish ,and some good klms to test out your gear and setup
May 24, 2012 at 7:48 pm #220274Cool,
Now plan to meet up with ACE at the Cooranbong Fire Station around 5.45am for the run over the Watagans in the dark
That makes three amigos, as Strucky is starting from my place also.Bring the Thermals guys, the weather has shown it`s cool side the past few days,,,
Sort of a bit like a pre ride orientation session in prepearation for Sunny Corner blizzard conditions :woohoo: -
