Well folks, I adjusted the Tenere’s clutch cable yesterday as it had about 15 mm of free play in the clutch lever. I was damn sure that I got it to be about spot on with very little free play (about 3-5 mm) left but after maybe 10 gear changes, the unthinkable happened and the the clutch cable sheared from the cable end at the handle bar side. To say that I was not happy  would be an understatement as I would have had to resort to sitting at home watching TV or doing gardening :pinch: It was then early this morning that I looked at my mountain bike and thought stuff that, let me take my spare bicycle brake cable and feed it into the original clutch cable sheath. I then used the I have nothing else, let me try the cable tie method on the gearbox side and hey presto, it worked as normal and I just returned from a test ride out to Wiseman’s Ferry :cheer:

Tomorrow I will order two new original clutch cables to replace my temporary fix at least now I know that if you are really stuck, you can get by with a $5 bicycle brake cable emergency fix!

Nice work TT, Ballards sell a kit for trail side reapairs. I have a fitted a new clutch cable as I heard mine clicking as the broken strands caught the outer. I fitted a new one and ran second next to my working cable. In the event of it breaking the cable its already routed and waited to have the ends connected, will take 3 mins. Nick has done the same with his, wonder if they are a weak point

    Top tip TT !!
    Thanks for that ;)

I have started running a spare clutch cable in position , just in case mine brakes and it’s any easy change over but your idea would take up little room and be good for all bike on a ride.
