Anyone eat energy or protein bars when out on the trails?

If so what brands and flavours do you recommend and do you reckon they work?

I have started eating them and reckon they give a better boost than snakes and a mars bar, the ones I have been getting are called Aussie Bodies Protein FX they are between 3 and 4 bucks depending on where you buy them, choc mint, choc malt and caramel fudge, they all taste pretty good.

I tried the Growling Dog but you need jaws of steel just to chew them.

I use them on longer rides LC and the FX bars seem the pick , I tried the lime power gel sachets too , taste really bad but work for a boost.

Evs got me into Magnesium tablets , especially on his Cramp Fest rides, I have 1 a day for a couple of days before then 2 on the morning of the ride and maybe a couple at lunch if he announces an increase in grades for the arvo section :D
They don’t give you energy but at least your not using extra energy fighting cramps.

Staminade in the hydro pack goes good too ;)

I have never really had a problem with cramp, (must be because I am such a perfect physical specimen  ) I drink plenty of water everyday and even more when I ride, my brother is into the gels they do seem to work, the taste ain’t too bad.

I never cramped in my life either LC, until Evs Lowanna ride last year , I was riding every weekend , minimum 4 hours and drank 6 liters of water that day. I had a protein bar and a decent lunch and wasn’t really that physically knackered but cramped in places I never thought possible :D

I’ll be taking the bars , gel , staminade and anything else that may help for next Saturday at Lowanna :D

I’ve tried a couple of those gels and they are not bad you got that right

they are f@#$%ing terrible i can’t finish a sachet but i think they work

Those fx bars you had the other day were prob the pick of them so far

And :woohoo: Blue V they are the stuff …..mate half a can is enough and you will perform like a legend ( i DID ANYWAY)

Imagine how i would go on a full can :woohoo: 👿 B)

And Boral make a product that goes pretty well for cramps and energy

    Its called Cement

and a $6 bag will last a looooong time when you only need a teaspoon a day

If half a can makes you a legend Bob it must be great gear !!

And if you don’t cramp coming home from Lowanna next week it’s cause you’ve had a heart attack on the way out :D

I’ll be up for the Boral solution too if it helps :D

I’ll make a smoothy out of blue V, energy bars, gel and some cement, pour it into my camelback and ride like an absolute demon until I keel over and die of a heart attack
