I’m sitting in my shed trying to get my bike back together and can’t do it. I had to mount the skid plate and believe it or not you have to tilt the motor back to get the mount plate in position. Buggered around a little but got the mount plate in. Now just put the lower engine mount bolts back in right? Front lower bolt won’t line up and I can barely get it in and have no change getting it out the other side. It looks like I’m going to have to drop the swingarm bolt back out then put the front lower bolt in first and get the rest in. I can’t believe I’m ready to burn my new bike already :(

I’ve never had a linkage bike so I really didn’t want to have to go to this much trouble already just to put a farking skid plate on!!!!

Any tips on what to do here? I should be sitting back dreaming about tomorrow’s ride instead I’m getting back spasms I’m so wound up about this thing!

What bike are you having grief with?? Obviously isnt the Kato as you mentioned linkage. Best let people know what bike you are talking about, just in case they have had the same problem.

Sorry its my TM300 09 model. I’ll be having a chat with the guys when the store opens back up because I don’t expect that’s right.

And it’s one nice looking bike too.

Sometime you need 3 or 4 hands to line suff up AB. Good to see your ready for tomorrow. Be kind to Murph, he’s getting you know.

AB never tighten a bolt until you have them all in firstly.

Why does it having a linkage got anything to do with what?

Can you take some pics of the skid plate and its mounting?

Is it a skid plate or bash plate?

Doesn’t a TM come with a bash plate / skid plate?

Dropping the swing arm bolt out – never mind it wouldn’t matter I’d just take the top shock mount bolt off and pull the swing arm that way – wasn’t thinking straight.

TM comes with no plates afaik and I do know this one came with none. I bought a CF skid plate – figured I’d give it a go. It’s a well made little unit but the mounting system sucks cheesy balls :D

I’m sure you’ll understand if I wait till tomorrow to take some pics TB it’s 850 and I’m not done prepping for tomorrow and my hot assistant is smoking from the ears as well now so I best get on with the job!

I just dialled my suspension settings based on a tip I was given back the comp right off then wind on 3 clicks and back the rebound right off then wind on 17 clicks – same front and rear. We’ll see how that goes tomorrow. Now to drop it off my new stand and attach the plate and pack my gear and sort out fuel for tomorrow.
