You have my attention again with the pods TB. I know they aren’t as good as the Ultras but something has to be better than nothing…right

I might go and try some on to check the comfort level after reading the feedback in this thread though.

Good stuff mate and no worries, try a set on if you can, ask around about them I know STM had a set and Dejay had a set. Note that Lefty only tried a set on he hasnt ridden with a set or Asterisk for that matter  I dont mind what you get I have to say again, you work it out and let me know here and we can make it happen :)

Something that came up recently was that someone mentioned their braces slide down. I rightly or wrongly liken wearing my braces to snow boots. They are tight, tight enough that when I take them of I have big dents in my shin / legs   Seen others that dont have problems with theirs moving like Crash for example and he has the same indentations in his legs we he takes his off (Crash is always quick to get out of his kit  )
Just thought its something important worth sharing, they have to be tight enough to hold and brace like snow boots.

Ace, Ive got the Pod K700’s. When I bought them from Suttos I went in to buy the Cells but they just didn’t fit me right. Even the Pods I found I had to go one size up to their measurements as my knee wouldn’t fit between the hinges, it appears I have wide knees. I guess our knees are a bit like heads in helmets, we all have different shapes.

As for comfort I strap them down tight like TB suggest and they don’t move. I also make sure my top boot buckles are tight which also helps hold them in place. Once on I don’t notice that I have them at all.

I rode without them yesterday because I forgot to throw em in the car :pinch: . I felt very vulnerable and it was on my mind all day. My knees ended up getting sore on the insides from gripping the bike without the brace. Seems since having braces I have sub-consciously learnt to grip the bike tighter between my knees and now without the brace it begins to hurt.

I have crash tested them and they payed for themselves in one crash.

I have two dodgy knees from a couple simple incident where I didn’t even crash. Whatever you have to do, beg, borrow or steal I say get some braces of some sort before you regret it.

One thing Asterix will tell you straight away with the ultras that wearing them tight in the thigh can cause them to creep down and that some people try to remedy this by tightening the adjuster only making the problem worse.

I find that once the brace is on to get it tight then release the adjuster at the back and stretch your leg then lock it in, a 1/4 turn tighter on the adjuster and its perfect every time for a days riding. I don’t end up with indents on my legs and they never move , plus I’ve crash tested them too !!

Shin Nick, the indents will be in your shin should have explained it better. Yes not over tight on the thighs you mentioned that when you said yours had been slipping down on the phone a while ago. There will be no difference between the new or old asterisk braces. Besides sliding down to tight up the thigh gives you pins and needles   I haven’t had mine move in the 6 years I have been wearing them and I have even crash tested them all the way to hospital  Thanks again Lotsa ;) (just went and reread that thread was three years ago  and the first time I wore the braces on the Tenere. Mal 5.1 suggested the chances of damage was every bit as high thanks Mal)
I don’t wear the boot tethers, the ones I showed you at Seaview, I have never had them twist, if anyone is thinking about using the tethers read up on them you need to cut a hole in your boots. Just make sure you remove them with the allen key provided as they can dig into your UPPER SHIN

Cheers mate. Yep I have looked at some online reviews. The k300’s are injection moulded plastic. The independent reviews read okay for mine. I suppose there are pros and cons to most products.

My plan is to put the balance towards a neck brace.

Thanks for your help TB. I’ll get my size and give Suttos a call.

    ;)
