So, I say to Boony sure Ill take a day off to go up to the Nundle forrests to set out some additional singles for the big Nundle ride. We are all organised and what day do we pick

today. The coldest day since Jesus played fullback for Jeruselum. Max temp 8 deg minimum -5 but felt like -23. Jump a speed hump and then ice skate the puddles, there was ice everywhere at 3pm and the bike motors and exhaust were cold before we finished strapping them on the trailer.

End result a whole lot of new single designed to boil the arse out of 650’s.:P

Bad news — some men in big machines have raped the forrest and in the process have destroyed 6-8 km of native singles we normally ride. we need to get legislation that forrestry bull dozers are equiped with rear blades that restore the single tracks after they get the wood out. Fancy them wanting to use forrests for wood production instead of trail bike parks.

    What we learnt today
1 make new singles in the pine forrest they have just planted, you can see where your going and you have thirty years before they doze it out.
2 Singles that feel like 6km when you are walking and marking them are generally only 600 m long
    3 DRZ’s cant ice skate:whistle:
4 Feral pigs can move really quickly when chased
5 The pies at the Dungowan pub are hot.
6 When frozen, orange nundle mud is still more slippery than a dog on wet lino
7 When your hands are frozen, your bike needs the choke onto warm up every time you stop, damus is warning of impending snowstorms and you cant find your doodle any more its time to give it away and go home to the fire.

Sounds like a good bit of training for raiding mexico. Menace and aido would probably be out in their togs having a swim in Sheeba dam in those sultry conditions.

I got picked up at 8.00 and it was bloody freezing,,actually the gauge in the great wall said -4  Dam them single trails not building themselves.
we met up with Damus and headed for the hills. We got up there only to have a major acsses road blocked by loggers   anyway we found a really good new unload area and set about getting ready, That meant take of the tracky daks and wholah , add boots and I`m good to go.

the temp where we set up was not to bad, we thought beauty were in for good day.
We soon had a rethink when every puddle we hit was frozen ,, Snowy and me were doing our best Torvel and Dean impersination on DRZs on every puddle. 😆
We were not to far from our first area tha needed a touch up when I came aroud the last corner and I nearly cried, the bloody loggers had been there, the joint was trashed, the locals will know this trail as the one that goes around the little dried up dam in the native forest.

there used to be a sweet single through here,,,cmon everyone ,, buy plastic stuff not wooden stuff.

Anyway we headed for wombat and set about making new trails ,, as Snow said we thought we would need to do a fueldrop to ride this awesome trail,, yeah right 2 ks long,, your kidding. But hey they will be excellent when we run a few more bikes over them..(Monday) weather permitting.
the day got on but the ice just got worse it was getting colder by the minute.
    09062011004.jpg
I nearly shat myself when i was working on a trail,, I caught a glimpse of something that could only be described as a Big foot !
    09062011006.jpg

The trails we worked on are gunna rock,
    Heres a sample.
    09062011007.jpg

After we finished cutting in the trails we decided to go and have a lookm at some of our other trail, Once again I was shattered , all the really good trails on the return to nundle run are gooooone, there stuffed , nothing left for us,, I truly hope there are trails left for the christmas ride..

It was a good day but I would have rather not seen what I did today. anyway you get that. :pinch:

    Cheers
