How good do these socks work
Cleaned the bike after the dustathon( Hillend)and couldnt believe the muck i saw when i took off the airbox cover. Me and Champo changed a sock in Sunny Corner and i left it on for the rest of the ride. These things really work, best $20 ive spent in a long time.

Trying to upload some photos may take a while

Yes, your socks seemed thicker than the pool filter ones but still the pool ones did a great job of work on my bike. I took one off at Yetholme on day 1 and decided for a dollar or so I’d toss it.

Haven’t ventured into the shed since last weekend to check the Day 2 results but I doubt it would be as dusty. I tried to hang back out of the dust on Sunday.

Mate i think your in for a rude shock
The socks i bought from Ballards were 20 bucks 4 three of them.
They are reuseable just treat them like your filter give em a wash re-oil and away you go. The filter itself is pretty and clean.
I’m sold i will be using them all the time now, Iwish you could see the photos:angry:

The tip I got today is to compare you pool socks under a microscope against a proper filter skin and you wont use a pool filter skin again is the word, cant see it with a naked eye they reckon. That’s why there is the price difference is guess?

Oh I am with you ECKS difference is I never said they are any good did I? its just what I use to catch a little dust, as skins cant be used on my bike :( , you are barking up the wrong tree there ECKS :P , I also run a clean air intake and K & N filters fairly different.

And besides was only passing on something I heard from someone I think is in the know and has nothing to gain regarding what people use

Nah mate, all good! I could see the difference in my filter and holeshot’s at Hill End. Stuck out like doggies it did. So there is a reason you pay more for the bike ones.

Really though, the filter should be capable by itself, the skin (or chux) is just for the larger particulates and other rubbish like grass seeds.

Ha ha funny rocket, wasn’t 15mins was it? The side cold air intake on my bike has been the most unbelievable change to my filters I have ever seen, before that half day would see it struggle to rev in some long dusty races (not hard ones ask Dave) but dusty ones.

Ecks, when you say there was a huge difference, did the pool filter do anything for the Filter? or was it a total waste of time? Curious, I’m trialing a CHUX on mine but its been wet this way so very little dust..I’d hate to think I’ve been spruiling thse tings only to find it to be a waste of time and money??

Exactly, they don’t need to do filtration down to the tiniest microbe. I would just use them to give you som eextra time between actual filter changes on longer dusty rides like Hillend.

exactly Ecks and Moto I have both kinds and will continue to use both. The actual airfilter is the primary device for ensuring clean air,as long as that Jigger picks up the ones that get through all is good;)
