Chad Billett on his CRF450 could be one to watch also.

Chad lead last year until the 170 km mark before crashing. This resulted in a broken hand, foot and a dislocated shoulder that put an end to what promised to be a quick time. Many of the top ten, including Jason Hill, also crashed at the same point.

    White rocket,

At least your mate is there racing and having a go, he will do it tough starting from middle of the field.

2smoker, it was not that long ago that the cr500 dominated the race. What a weapon of a bike that was.

In the words of former winner Michael Vroom “The CR500 has still got wins in it, & its by far the fastest bike out there, its just that no one can hold onto it at those speeds for that long, its such a brute whereas the newer 4 strokes dont hurt you as much”

Just checked last years results and Shane did win his class and by some distance also 15 minutes. He also finished 34th outright 58 minutes behind the winner Ben Grabham.

Shane Munoz started 82nd last year and will start 284th this year. Having an extra 200 bikes start in front of him this year will not help his cause to win his class again.

    Man that track is tough!!!!!

    Ahhh, “wise words grashopper”

I was at Finke when Wonka crashed and smashed his knee up a few years ago, whilst he was leading or very close to it.

Benny fastest into finke by 7 mins and 4 seconds, failing bike failure he wont lose that guys, I know from last year he will start first and know that 2nd place will start 30 seconds behind him, he can let 2nd place pass him and sit on his tail knowing he has 6 and half minute up his sleeve

Go you bloody good thing Ben!

    Even on a kato

Yeah and he was the only bike to do it in under the magic 2hrs which is the bench mark set by the top riders before leaving Alice.

TB, I agree that he will be very hard to beat now unless the KATO shats itself.

Good on ya Chicken, I was waiting for someone to say something like that!

Chad Billet made it another win for the CRF’s in the 250cc to 450cc 4 stroke class.

Wonka won the 40 to 44 year olds class.

Jason Hill didn’t start today (again).

Caleb Auricht must have had an off or had a machine failure after the 2nd checkpoint today!

And most importantly, I see the one and only XR650 entrant is bringing it home (Bruce Broad from Condo). He started today in 8th place in his 45 years and older class! Yeehaa.

    Crash
