Yeah I did it in 2008, I high sided it at a pretty reasonable speed, which shook me up a bit, still finished but wasn’t real happy with my effort. First time for SB_250y

sounds like a good ride just had a read of the web site bit like yellow mountain but more dollars and you need three pit crews

You don’t need any crew as the club are providing fuel at the fuel stops this year ($$$$)

They will also transport some spares to Fuel stops as well as the overnight @ Finke along with your Swag ($$$$)

They also provide meals if req if required at Finke ($$$$)

We’ve taken the Fuel option & will have crew at Finke

Good luck guys. Hope you don’t have to use any of the spares.

Thanks for droping in while I was getting the rock star treatment at the 4 day too.

Do you know what numbers you are in the Finke yet?

Hey Mal, was good to catch up, I’m really keen to give the 4 Day a go now after having a look. Don’t think I’ll be heading to Mackay for next years though.

My number is 530 for Finke and 430 for Hattah
sb_250y I think is 671 for Finke and 471 for Hattah

Bike prep has started as we are approx 6 weeks away from Finke.

Followed closely by Hattah, Then Yellow Mountain as well as a couple of Club Enduros & possibly The Holbrook 6 hour

My 09 WR450 is just over 12 months old & approx 3500kms on it, mostly singles although it has done a couple of club enduros & Yellow Mountain & an enduro that replicated YM although only 3 hours managed 10 20km loops in this time.

So the WR has been held wide open a fair bit.

When it was new it had the headset bearings greased as Yamaha do a half hearted job. 12 months on the top bearing is pitted & a terrible brown colour so it’s been replaced

Then onto the top end, New piston & rings

Nice work sb. Why the piston change? Is it just to be sure or did something happen to make you want to change it.

That bearing sure looks shagged. Lucky you found that before the Finke.

Keep the updates coming mate. Is badbowie changing a piston too?

Mal no problems with pistons in WR’s. If I was only trailriding I wouldn’t contemplate changing, was after last year flogging I gave it I decided to get in ahead of this years flogging.

There was no wear, & the bore was like new, hopefully cheap insurance.

badbowies bike was only trailriden last year due to his big ADV ride to Finke http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=482329 & was out for a couple of months due to injury, so his bike has done less work than mine

The bike went back together for a quick run then a strip down to sort the suspension, grease the swingarm & linkages & fit some TM Designworks Bling.

Hopefully it will be back together by the end of the week, with only normal maintenance before heading off for Finke

Will post more photos later as I’m away from home this week
