One of my friends wanted to do finke. he ended up working for a guy who bought a buggy to do that sort of race. He ended up riding shotgun for a test of the track and after that said “stuff that those whoops are spastic” Good luck guys you are sick puppies to want to hook into some of that punishment!!

It’s time for me to add my bit to this thread. The bike has been apart most of the week with the main
job being to re-grease the rear suspension.
    DSC01890Medium.jpg
One Set of needle rollers apart
    DSC01893Medium.jpg
Assembled needle rollers greased ready to install
Whilst the swing arm was off it was the ideal time to install a new chain slider.
    DSC01887Medium.jpg
The TM designworks gear are the shizzle. We use plenty of Sikaflex under these chain sliders when we install them. They are a little noisier than a standard one.

TM designworks chain guide these can cop a huge wack a don’t deform like alloy ones.
    DSC01897Medium.jpg
    TM designworks disk protector.

I decided to install a carb filter on the overflow lines. I battled with the carb in the bike and finally had
to remove it to install the hoses and filter.

    Carby back in the bike
Santa dropped by and left SB_250Y and I some nice new Bling wheels for our bikes

“Front” Hahn billet hub heavy duty spokes and excel rim

“Rear” Hahn billet hub with a cush drive extra heavy duty spokes and a wide 2.50 rim NICE!!!!

    Nice bling guys.

Haven’t heard of TM designs before but they certainly look the part.

    Got much more to do?

A picture says a thousand words

Lunchtime today it looked like this

It’s not really that bad! Just need to put the Rear shock & Swingarm back after repacking all the needle rollers.

Forks are in, had a service & valving upgrade.

The TM stuff is quality gear. Without them guys were known to have to replace a chain slider for the return trip from Finke back to Alice.

I’m pretty much done. Having a head F### though atm trying to sort the TPS Throttle position sensor on my carby. So if anyone knows much about them I’d love to hear how succesful you have been at adjusting it and whether it made much of a difference mine is reading 2.5V and it should be .58 to .78!

We have pretty much sorted most things looking at running 14 , 50 gearing and a Bridgestone ED78 120/100 rear tyre should be good for an honest 155kph. Running Bridgestone M403 front 90/100

Well we are leaving for Alice Springs in just over a week. SB_250Y and I were just in the shop discussing the fact
that we think we are pretty much sorted. Been busy with the bikes just little things like new handgrips and new throttle cable on my bike new plastics and nice billet clutch covers.

A mate is coming for the trip and his only request was he wanted to be able to have cold roadies on the trip! So SB_250Y set about modifying the mounting of the rear seat and I made the mount up for the fridge. It all turned out great

Wheel bearings and new hubs were done on the trailer today.

    Everything is going to plan.

Will post photos of the bikes before we leave.

We had a stuff up with our shrouds & recieved a YZ shroud instead of a WR, fitted up the sticker kit & then the shroud didn’t fit the bike. Tee N Cee are doing new stickers so should have them back early next week so we can post photos after that.

We got into Alice Springs on Tuesday night after spending time at Ayres Rock and the Olgas.
Had a good trip with no issues
Went out on the track yesterday and clocked up around 80km.
Into the wind we are topping out around 149kph with a tail wind around 157kph and the bikes are just ticking over so we are pretty happy with that.
We had to make a few minor adjustments to our Steg Pegz and nip our spokes after the first run.
The track is alot rougher than how I remember it from two years ago, and I was getting pretty bad arm pump after about 5 minutes rode through it and all was good.
sb_250y and I were riding side by side doing about 80kph when we hit a real wooped out section, I saw out of the corner of my eye him pogo sticking it and then a big cloud of dust. He bit it pretty hard.
Today we will head out again and try to sort the suspension a bit.
