Quote:We got into Alice Springs on Tuesday night after spending time at Ayres Rock and the Olgas.
Had a good trip with no issues
Went out on the track yesterday and clocked up around 80km.
Into the wind we are topping out around 149kph with a tail wind around 157kph and the bikes are just ticking over so we are pretty happy with that.
We had to make a few minor adjustments to our Steg Pegz and nip our spokes after the first run.
The track is alot rougher than how I remember it from two years ago, and I was getting pretty bad arm pump after about 5 minutes rode through it and all was good.
sb_250y and I were riding side by side doing about 80kph when we hit a real wooped out section, I saw out of the corner of my eye him pogo sticking it and then a big cloud of dust. He bit it pretty hard.
Today we will head out again and try to sort the suspension a bit.

TB yeah I remember, I think Hilly did it like four times in a row that afternoon, for us to video, We might make it down there this afternoon but there will be none of that from us…. lol
June 10, 2010 at 12:40 pm #172618We’ve pre run twice now, driven down to approx 55k mark done a couple of loops of the track then the road then ridden back to withina couple of k’s of the start.
No real changes to the bikes, our trail setups are close so no point messing around.
Spent most of the time trying to find a good damper setting, seems within the last half turn to max is the best.
We’ve been going side by side averaging 90k’s whilst pre running, don’t think I’ll be able to keep it up for 220k’s as Ive suffered arm pump like never before.
The bikes are washed ready for a service, new plastics & race no’s to be fitted & the road legal gear ditched
This photo is from one of the smoother sections of the track…
June 11, 2010 at 1:18 pm #181476How did you guys go at scrutineering today?
Any photos of the blinged up bikes before they get covered in sand?
June 11, 2010 at 1:31 pm #172619We spent today servicing the bikes & fitting new plastics etc.
Went through scrutineering no problems once we overcame the shitfight of a lineup. You need to get your riding gear checked & then your bike, hard to work out when there was only one line. It took nearly 1.5 hours to get through.
We were in a rush to get to scrutineering & didn’t get any photos of our bikes, will take some before we prologue & post up tomorrow night
The out door workshop…… the whole caravan park was a hive of activity, plenty of bikes, no cars

I think Stuart had some dramas, because he came in in position 478. Hope he and the bike are OK.
Scott did well to be starting in pozzy 282.
I see Ben Grabham on a 505KTM is 1st. Only seconds behind are Chad Billet (CRF), Toby Price, Caleb Auricht, Micheal Walsh and Todd Smith.
Wonka is 8th, Jacob Smith 9th, AJ Roberts in 13th, Rod Faggotter in 25th.
The Yank, Steve Hengeveld is on a 250cc is starting at position 28th.
Grand ol’ man….Phil Lovett is in the Veterans class (over 45years old) is starting in the amazing spot of 68th. Not bad out of nearly 500!!!!!!!!
Tuffy is 196th
GOOD LUCK THE BOWEN BOYS
Race safe and have a ball!!!!!!!!!!!
The envious King Crash
June 12, 2010 at 11:40 am #172621Well I finished prologue witha huge high side half way through the lap, estimate around 100k’s & landed on my head, smashed a brand new Fox V3 now with big grazes & a crack.
Bike was a bit sad, new bars, barkbusters, clutch lever & the
Scotts’s sub mount may need replacing oor the top triple clamp, bars are slightly twisted still not the 20mm as earlier.Anyway I’m starting up the back & will see how I go as I’m still sore from the stack with bruised ribs.
Scott was conservative & is happy with his time & should improve through the day.
Just finished tidying the bikes so will post photos later
