    Hi,
I’m looking at fitting a FMF APEX slip on (1/3 price of an Akrapovic) to my 690r. I was wondering if any of you guru’s out there have any comment (good/bad) or advise.

    Thanks.

I can help you out on that one murph,

They are Loud, few years of riding under my belt and after fitting these exhausts I am now in the habbit of wearing earplugs (which I now do on all the bikes because the music is better :) .

They have an aggressive and sharp sound as opposed to the larger mufflers out there, the tone is not a deep rumble but rather a snappy bark. Great for navigating through traffic and get lots of positive comments. Guys at KTM Newcastle reckon they look awesome.

If thats what youre after they are great, terrific quality and light wieght. The DB killers do nothing. I love the look of them but would go for a slightly quieter pipe next time.

Here is a pic of how they look on my 990R.

I gave you my advice a while ago I think Murph,,,

Buy a Barrett and save even more $$$ ;) Great system and Old Bull Discount to boot :)

But if you really have to go the APEX, get the Aluminium end cap,,, the carbon one won`t last if you drop it and the $$$ to replace is steep I think

Lets get out on hat ride soon hey ???
Give me a yell next weekend you are free and I`ll drag you around on an easy run on the dirt ;)

    Cheers

Sorry it took so long to thank you for the comments, as I’ve been away with work for the last month.

Ended up putting the FMF APEX on and I too was a little concerned about the carbon fibre, as Eagle alluded too. However, as Sutto’s recommended it and said it shouldn’t be an issue I went with it. It is loud but, I’ll have to live with that now. Now have to get the Akrapovic map installed.

Also installed Rally Raid tanks, thermo switch, rear tank cap and upper and lower tank mounts, was surprised the lower bush basically fell out (no interference fit at all) so I can see why they flog out.
Going to take it out for its maiden run today or tomorrow, if I get all my jobs around the house done.

    Cheers,
