They are a good little car and does everything I ask of it. The only real problem I can think of is it is a bit under powered. I had a whine in the diff at the 80k mark but found a complete replacement on Ebay for $250.

June 14, 2009 at 7:31 am #139395If you wanted to go through the process mate you will buy a later model with a hell of a lot less kms any brand for that money at the auctions in Sydney or Newcastle at the moment mate is my only thought. There is a lot of cheap vehicles around at the minute. But the auctions are a hassle is all
As a mechanic just think its a lot of klms on the running gear for that money mate, sorry just my worthless two cents worth
Good luck champ mate sure it will be a good thing

I would be a little weary of cars from auctions over the next few months with all the floods of late. Those cars from floods need to be sold somewhere. A mate of mine(yes I do have some)had a mazda bravo on gas and had trouble with the head aparently because of the gas, but it was fixed under new car warranty and has no trouble since, 320 k’s on clock now. FEZ.
June 14, 2009 at 8:27 am #139389hi Rocket,
my treepence worth.
6000 for 280 000 is a bit high, unless the engine has had an overhaul. front diff swivel kit? ( like the cruisers)
however if you can haggle?
too see if you can see the test / retest date on the tank, around the 150 mark to be tested and stamped.
the fitment date on the compliance plate is only a guide as the tank could’ve been 1-2 yrs old when fitted.
good luck with it.

how the interior looks, if all shabby = done it hard, clean but can tell it’s been used = looked after
if the breathers on the diffs all oily, driven hard, abused? ( open to being corrected! )
if you can run it with the oil filler out ( the efi falcons run really rough or stall as they have a sealed engine, taking the filler out, it sucks air in the filler and affects air/fuel mix), let it idle and see if there is any fumes coming out of the filler, the more fumes the more tired the engine.
maybe ask the owner if you can get a compression test done.
my opinion even if the replacement had 25-50 000 on it when it went in, it has done 100 000 to 150 000, if it has been looked after it should have another 100 000 in it easy ( ? open to being corrected! ).
the tray size dose make a diff. to paying a few extra $$$

All I was getting at was after seeing alot of cars underwater in Coffs lately you would really want to check an auction car really well. BTW TB a couple of things I am after are some radiator protectors and a bashplate for my 04 wr 450. If you know of any let me know. Cheers FEZ.
June 14, 2009 at 10:21 am #139441Boonies useless 2 bob worth.
$6000.00 280.000ks bravo ????
