June 14, 2009 at 10:53 am #139456Those utes were a good old banger Al, they are prone to gearbox problems so if towing don’t use 5th gear. They are solid and people underrate them because they don’t have a Toymota badge on them. Check it out as best you can, if the engine and gearbox are solid and the tray is good, then make him an offer. $6000 for a LPG/petrol 4WD is not bad buying I reckon!
June 14, 2009 at 11:05 am #139459For your info rocket.
i bought a 1994 2.8 turbo diesel rodeo single cab tray back with 304,000 on the clock 4 years ago for $5000,00.This truck is my daily transport along with carting my quad or the DRz along with other bikes and sometimes a trailor filled with quad or bikes all over the joint.I love my truck and it has yet to fail me ,It now runs 368.000ks and is still going strong.Sometimes you can just get lucky and as ECKs says if it seems solid following a good inspection then go with your heart…
good luck..
Cheers

Ute has now got 110000k’s on it.
I saw on Ebay fully refurbed gearboxs for $1100

6000 for 280 000 is a bit high, unless the engine has had an overhaul. front diff swivel kit? ( like the cruisers)
however if you can haggle?
too see if you can see the test / retest date on the tank, around the 150 mark to be tested and stamped.
the fitment date on the compliance plate is only a guide as the tank could’ve been 1-2 yrs old when fitted.
good luck with it.
10 years for retest of gas cylnders retest date should be on the tag with tank details
June 14, 2009 at 11:30 am #139464i would say it is due next rego being a 2000 model better check hay thanks

just stamped on the tank, when the test/ retest was done.>>>>>>EDIT the gas may not have been fitted from new, they probably would not warrantee it if something went wrong and blame the gas. well i know ford do/ have done from BA onwards. won’t warrantee duel fuel, only their factory dedicated/ strait gas.
maybe check out this forum/site http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com
if you like i can post a thread for you if you like? and see what responses it gets
By the way dose anyone know which make if cheaper for parts= mazda verses ford?
