This time I’ve got my head screwed on so I’ll see how I goB)
Arrived at the Basin about 9:00 after hiding some fuel in the bush just in case:unsure:
tf2 was already there and looked keen. As we were unloading bikes 383hq, lotsa and twobanger rocked up. Introductions, geared up and we were off:woohoo: Headed NW and straight into some rocky uphill. Regrouped at the top to check everybody was happy then crossed the road and into another steeper hill. This was my second attempt at this hill and still made a mess of it. Twobanger was not far behind and unfortunately had to take another line almost making it but throwwing his bike into the air at the rock step:woohoo: The other boys did well but “no cigar” The hill will be tamed next time:angry:
From here we did some sweet singles containing rio hills and rocky outcrops. One section I lead everybody into a narrow water filled slot which stopped the bikes and we all needed a little push to get through (thanks lotsa for the roosting of mud and water:laugh: ) After we all got through our sweep rider just powered through the main puddle and to my embarressment it wasn’t even deep:blush:
We linked up with the Koala track nicely and I am sure everybody enjoyed that section as much as me:woohoo: :woohoo: After looping back around we headed north up some more rock steps tf2 took the RH line and did it smoothly. 383hq blasted straight up the guts with a lunge up the large step, very impressive:woohoo: Lotsa almost nailed it but threw his bike down hard onto the rocks, no damage though:ohmy: From here we took the great north walk down steeply to the valley floor. Crossed a creek, passed a waterfall then onto Wave rock trail:woohoo: This was the one I was concerned about as I had looked at it the day before and hoped it was passable:unsure: After a bit of kicking and scratching I made to the top of the gnarly section and walked backed down to assist the others. One by one and everbody pitching in we all made it to the top, where we met Lotsa who cheated and had gone around the road wayB)
Found the fuel cans and put a couple of litres into Tims Kato, no one else needed to so we hit the singles all the way back to the basin. Everybody had got a second wind and those singles were done at a great pace without stopping or resting. On reaching the cars Tims bike ran out of fuel (perfect):cheer:
Thanks to everybody who turned up and special thanks to 383hq and lotsa for sharing the sweep duties:cheer: Hope to see ya’s out there again one day:)
Nathan I have a ford hub cap at my place. I’m guessing you might be missing one:( Found it on the dirt road on the way out of the basin.
Hoping my mate Mal5.1 will again post some of our pics for your browsingB) B)
    Cheers:cheer:

    Jinx is back on

    Following examples should prove it,

    – Husky tries to jump out of trailer at the servo denting trailer in
    – Lotsa nearly falls through the floor of trailer
    – I get arm pump like ive never had, resulting in many altercations with the trees rocks etc
    – we evan saw a bloke stack it not on your ride, when we drove in
    – Lotsa stuck in tree although i didnt see it
    – 383 clips tree and off
    – Husky fell off the ramp when putting it back on trailer
    – ktm boiling
    – tf2 looses hubcaps

Thanks for the ride murph, had a good time, your young bloke is quick through the sticks, and slams that 200.And it was good to get out and meet some more bulls, thanks for the ride fellas.

And for letting me in on this KTM only ride.;)

    murph,
nice report.its good to see in print the backhand side talking I get when you ring me.
Hey Mal, he must ring you after me , because I only get the half turkey version. Murph has learned that its not such a good idea to ring my place late, especially since I work afternoonshift and the wife is not amused anymore:angry:
    Anyway, murph,dont change a thing.

I haven’t got much to add Murf. I think you said it all in your first post.

Twobanger was at Kulnura One Stop already and we got talking, lost track of time and ended up running late. We saw our first crash driving to the basin by a guy going down a hill near the road.

We took off at 9.45 with murf lead and 383hq sweep and found a hill. Knowing the hill I sensibly rode around and took some photos

Going down to the koala trail to the creek I performed my amazing motorbike suspended from only a brake cable trick, when a forked branch had wedged in the ground. Not the best trick to perform on a wet off camber rock downhill. Needless to say when the handlebars went higher than my shoulders I bailed. Thank god the branch found the brake cable because it was heading straight for my melon. Pity I had the camera.

    Then we found another hill

Sensibly I piked, road around to the top and didn’t have to push my bike once.

    Then we found another hill

    Tim about to launch

I have to admit I rode like a gumby all day and a crash going up some rocks actually bent my handle bars straighter!!!. After lotsa crashes I had lotsa bruises.

It was a good test for the radiator fan, home made tripmaster for the old digital ktm speedo and handle bar warmers I fitted to the bike the previous day still working after the ride and a pressure wash.

It was a pleasure to ride with everyone and thanks to Murf for posting and leading a great ride.

Murf if you want me to knock up a tripmaster switch for Tim let me know.

    lotsa
