April 24, 2012 at 12:21 am #220387They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.Lest we forget.

April 24, 2012 at 1:45 am #220407Yeah ride on brothers.. never forget the cost to others for our freedom.
My Grandfather had a big role in the war that I’ve only learned of recently after him passing last year. He always carried a great burden of the war and had many secrets that he could never share. He wrote a poem to my Grandmother when they met in England just before WW2 broke out.
Ten little German boys yodelling on the Rhine
One went flat and sank then there were nine.Nine little German boys strolling through a gate
A bull came out and chased one then there were eightEight little German boys looking up to heaven
One thought he’d like it there then were sevenSeven little German boys thought of many tricks
One thought a bit too much then there were sixSix little German boys cheered to be alive
When Hitler came and caught one, leaving only fiveFive little German boys a fish bone they did gnaw
When one pushed it down his throat, then there were fourFour little German boys laughed and cried with glee
One had done the goose step wrong leaving only threeThree little German boys swearing at a Jew
He turned around and shot one then there were twoTwo little German boys weighing half a ton
One ate alot too much then there was oneOne little German boy looking for some fun
he sailed away across the sea and then there was none.April 24, 2012 at 1:56 am #220411Thats some heavy stuff there Crow.
I have a world of respect for our grandfathers.Lest we forget.

April 24, 2012 at 2:06 am #220413The Grafton Regional Gallery has an amazing exhibition on at the moment celebrating the bravery of our WW1 and WW2 troops. The displays are hand-written letters, first hand accounts and original photos. It really hits home how tough it was for these brave souls.
The most confronting part has to be the letters to the parents from the military explaining the death of their sons.Lest we Forget!

April 24, 2012 at 2:30 am #220392It truely is a day like no other.
I’m sure we all have our own stories that we remember on this day.
For me,Anzac day is a time i pay respect to my Grandfathers brother who died in Germany as a POW,my Grandfather who served in the airforce in WW2,my grandmothers brother who battled the Japs in the Pacific.
Old Gaf who i used to have a beer with ever friday night who did his time on the Burma railway. My mate Greeny who is flying blackhawks in Afganistan.
And my father inlaw who fought in the jungle of Vietnam and is still fighting that war today.
Its a day where i reflect and honor those who have served our country, and pay upmost respect to those young men and women wearing our uniform today.
Lest we forget.
