Did a normal fairly easy ride a few weeks ago
,lost the feeling on my right hand fingers. A few days later I notice the muscles on my hand have gone, looking a bit skeleton like.
Trip to a nerve dr and test tells me I have a perminant nerve condition.
Apparently had it forever, but like any one here I don’t want to quit riding.

What to do, I can still grip the bars and the muscles growing back. Not sure if I should hang up the boots or ride in slow mo. I think a pump affects things as well, maybe if I can ride with zero arm pump I can keep riding? Or maybe I’m just dreaming, if I ride single track I’m just going to try and wind it on.

It’s depressing to think back to all the rides I’ve been on and the good times been had not to mention meeting top blokes along the way. Maybe I need to watch that you tube clip of the two 70 year olds again those blokes are legends.

Chin up mate, like TB said keep working at it. :)

My goal is to be still riding single/ twin track at 65, after that adventure bikes for as long as I can.
I am diabetic, have to exercise daily to keep the dreaded sugar levels at bay
I am currently 40, I think the sugar is starting to get to the eyes as I am taking longer to focus on things now.

When I come home feeling like shit or its stinking hot and I really dont wanna get on the treadmill, I just think of riding and weekends away with mates and its much easier to get started….

Join a gym or whatever you need to do, you will get there!
If your not riding what else is there to do???????????????

    Thanx for the replays fellas,
Yes tb was out of left field to me too, I’ve only ridden twice in 6 months the Xmas ride and a few weeks ago.i am keen on taking care of my health, trail rider as non smoker bugger all drinker,Im not far off.

One thing that’s good is my hand grips well around the grip still As the tendons come from up the arm, I think. Going back to the neurologist soon, I’ll hit him up with more questions.

    Thanks again for the motorvation.

Where there’s a will there’s a way Twobanger. I remember racing a cross country where there was a guy who had no right hand just a stump. With all the modern gear such as auto clutches, left hand brake levers and the like should be able to make something work. Ya may have to slow up a bit but that’s gotta be better than not riding at all.

    Yeah,
As the guys have already expressed,,,
Good luck with it mate,, sounds intimidating now, but hopefully is something that can be easily managed with physio and treatment ;)

Doctors can do some terrific things these days and with a bit of determination and willpower, miracles can be created too B)

    Cheers Banger

Thank again for the kind words, I agree get out there and enjoy yourselves while your fit. It’s good to hear all the stories about people overcoming issues to keep riding.
I am not going to read any more medical advice, I am going with old bulls instead.
Fired the husky up this arvo still keen to get out there. Yeah I like talkin crap at Galeys camp fires especially getting busted for non dirt bike topics. ;)
    Cheers

Gee that’s no good. Keep on doing what you can to stay on the bike, it would be a tough decision to have to stop.
