Hi, I just joined the site and am new to off-road riding as well, so thought I’d say hello.

I’ve been looking at the site for a while, getting heaps of good information about rides from the Forum and Ride Reports that people have put up.

I live in Newcastle. Been back on bikes for about 2 years after a long break. My road bike is a Bandit 1250, and I’ve recently bought the DR 650, all ready to hit the dirt and do a bit of touring.

Since buying the DR I’ve had a few rides round Sugarloaf, mucked around on the trails at the back of Bulahdelah for a few days, hit the mud at Murrays Beach, and then literally hit the mud under the power lines near Barnsley! ( All good, luckily just a bruised ego )

I’m planning a trip shortly with a mate riding the old road from Port Macquarie to Crescent Head, then heading west into the trails near Wauchope. After reading a few reports on this site we’re thinking of camping at Swans Crossing and probably head out towards Comboyne.

If anyone’s got any advice on good tracks round there it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I’m really keen to get into the Watagans and discover the tracks in there. Hopefully I’ll be able to link up with some of the guys who ride in there regularly who don’t mind a slow middle age bastard tagging along.

Anyone, thanks, hope to see you on the trails,

    Ralph.

    Welcome Ralphy10
There are quite a few of us who picked up dirt riding again after a big break from the sport.
I’ve been back in the saddle for the last 10 yrs and we are still having a blast
The DR is a reliable bike and you sound like you’ve had some fun on her already
I’m sure some of the Adventure Boys will chime in and give some info concerning fire trails and the like
We are going out tomorrow but I think your Dr650 would be too much of a handful for the tracks and singles we will be doing
    Enjoy
    Cheers
    Murph
