Just a smal group with the 4 of us Mal,myself a mate from work and his mate.
The weather was looking average on the drive up,but trying to be optimistic i was hoping the mountains were better….wrongJust a bit of mist so not to bad, wasn’t that cold either, after riding at sunny corner regular in the cold i must be getting climatised.
The plan was head in via as much s/t as possible check out this loop i found and avoid any deep valleys due to the wet,Mals gott an extra 2L of fuel and all good.
Back on the trail and waiting at a corner for the others we can’t hear anything so head back, finding a husky parked up in the middle of the track with a chain thats flown off.
No worries ive got a link but after lots of mucking around can’t fit, evan with Mals chain press.
We try a second link Mal had and still no joy.At this stage Mal rips out a new one and we see that its wider.
Big thanks to Mal for saving his day as it was only 7K in.Any way he copped a few verbals about bigbore blokes and having too much power and breaking stuff and how many cases of tooheys new he owes.
Back into it we find more singles and its not too wet under the trees, rain stays away and we link up some fire trails and singles and cover a fair bit of ground.
Rode a fire trail that was perfect, nice sweepers damp soil super smooth like just sandy surface and no rocks! 2 husky’s sounded sweet getting into that.
Back in the singles plenty of tree roots and rocks to keep us honest and gotta love angled logs in the wet  got me thinking i could do with a steering damper.
Keeping an eye on fuel range weve done 76k and we head back then plan to do some singles when closer. After 5 minutes i look down and no speedo  so we pull the pin after the mist comes back.
Turned out to be a great ride thanks to all.
September 4, 2010 at 7:39 am #186929September 4, 2010 at 8:39 am #186930Had a great day thanks Twobanger.
We were on the bikes by 7:15am in the misty rain and straight into the tight stuff. Twobanger led us through some nice tracks until the flying chain debarcle  . With that sorted we were off again with nice flowing tracks.
Some of the tracks close to the camp ground have had a flogging with all the rain and then the weekend warriors doing multiple laps on then. But they were fun, just had to be carful in some of the muddy sections.
Once we got further out and I worked out where we were I showed Twobanger some tracks he hasn’t been on before and found one I hadn’t been on too :woohoo: . They are rarely used and flow really nice. They also linked up with another track to make an awesome loop if we had enough fuel. Next time I’ll do a fuel dump Twobanger and we can do the whole loop.
We cruised the fire trails back to the cars as we were all running low on fuel. I carried an extra 2 litres and put it in at the 25km mark. When I fueled my bike today it took 9 litres.
One of many highlights was when Twobanger went past a track I wanted to go on and I said to the other guys to wait and I’ll go get him. He was about 2km down the road waiting when I turned up and said there’s a track back there. So we raced back knowing no one else would be on the road. Two 2 strokes on song from corner to corner side by side was just a great feeling.
Thanks Twobanger.
Only got a couple of pics.

September 4, 2010 at 12:52 pm #186932Good stuff guys. Glad to see you all take care of the trails. Glad our crew didn’t head up there, we are scared of the rain haha
we managed a local sicky ride Friday to compensate and rocket if your reading this don’t go down tomingley road that place is a SWAMP. Scull dragging out of bog holes was the order of the day.
Hope to catch a ride with you folks before summer in the mountains.September 4, 2010 at 9:53 pm #186959Good looking day out fella’s
Wish I was there
Twobanger, if you weld a thin strip of flat bar so the cross section is a “T” shape to that wheel spanner, all will be good. Worked for me.
Cheers

Hope to catch a ride with you folks before summer in the mountains.na not going riding today it will be a swamp most places today .how much mess did you make of the track .the trick out there is to ride through the water on the gas except the deep spots bottemless of the track.

MurphThanks for the tip Murph, haven’t looked at it yet,but was thinking i could weld it to the tire levers but ill give the re-inforcing a try. Great idea that spanner used it on a mates crf once with the inserts got him out of trouble, thats why i havn’t chucked it and bought a simple two size model.
