I’v got to much travel in the front break leaver on the 310 before it takes up,,,I’v got adjustment to the piston contact, which I’v turn’d right in but this is not the problem,,after contact the piston seems to move a long way before it takes up.
I thought that it may have air in it,but the break feel is positive,,after the leaver moves about half way in. The pads look to have plenty of meat on em to ????
I’l give em a bleed, but thought that I’d check in here first before I go sperting shity break fluid around.
Any thoughs ,Cheers Teza.February 7, 2013 at 6:46 am #236410Tezza,try crouching down and pushing your knee as hard as you can against the caliper and push it inwards towards the disc. Pull the lever in/out plenty of times to get firm again and repeat this a few times. It basically reverse bleeds the system,Hope this helps.

February 7, 2013 at 6:49 am #236411Tez, being a three year old bike Tez, if you don’t know when they were bleed last it can’t hurt to flush some new fluid through them. Good chance it has the same fluid it left the factory with.
When you say too much travel, how much are we talking? All the way to the bars or just further than your used too. Does the brake feel like its got plenty of progressive power.
The reason I ask is the Brembo on my Husky has a completely different feel to my RMX (like you previously owned).
The RMX has very little travel with a very hard lever feel but the brake has only average stopping power, you could almost call it woody.
In comparison the Husky has a softer, longer throw but it is very progressive with huge amounts of power. 150kg bike with my fat 110kg body is easily and controllably pulled up with one finger.
It’s funny after I have been riding the Husky a bit, when I get on the RMX I find myself overshooting corners till I readjust.

Plus one on this Teza, I felt the same with the DRZ / Kato.
Also the reservour is small and needs a little fluid when the pads wear down a bit. Need to take some back out when you fit new pads too.

Well thanks Marty, you nail it in one, There’s no way i could get my short leged nee and short arm around the caliper and the leaver at the same time,,so I used a C clamp on the caliper and worked the lever. At first the leaver just went in to the bars,,,but as you said do it plenty of times, and wolah! the leaver came out to where it should be,I released the clamp and the leaver stayed put,,,too easy,Thanks heaps for the info. bugger’d if I would have worked that one out.
Scotty, I know what yu mean about the different break feel on the RMX,,it was pretty solid alright and my back break never had any feel to it ,only when I put new pads in,for about half of a ride then back to, on or off kinda feel.
I think I’m gona like the the 310.Problem solved. Thanks again .
Cheers Teza. -
