I think you are forgetting he has only mentioned one ride, surely one road ride is not going to kill the thing, especially if you take note of the gearbox warnings and don’t flog it. I think Dan may be right, the equipment in the most danger will be the part you sit on all day.

I agree Jeffro once or twice should be right, well maybe you should be ok

When My mates 3rd gear went it just went without warning, made a clunk or two and that was that, no time to pull the clutch.
The worry is what happens when broken bits move around inside the box?

Just go and do what ever ride you want to – road / bush whatever. If your bike shits itself thats too bad if it doesn’t thats good.

The trick is to enjoy yourself on the ride and worry about what ever happens when it happens if it happens.

I disagree to an extent, if you are riding a dedicated roadbike on the trails all time and it breaks and you complain you’re a fool, and the inverse is also true.

The trick is to enjoy what you do, but do it properly and do it well.

I stand corrected then Rocket and must say never seen it mate but it would be on the money if you say so thanks for the heads up ;)

Did it have many miles on it? What gear failed?
