Fuel Mapping on 530???

I have a mate at work that asked me today about the fuel mapping on his Kato 530,,,,
something about a wire he can disconnect then reconnect to reset the mapping to a more aggressive setting????

Any thoughts or info,,,

I have no idea but thought I would throw it around on here to you knowledgable blokes

its just a plug for the ignition system with the plug pluged in it runs better with the standard pipe with a aftermarket power pipe and jetting you unplug it and it goes better some people put a switch on the handle bars so they have two ignition maps it does make a difference .i just leave it unplugged with the set up on my 530 (i just leave it on the power setting and let my rist control the power its better on fuel that way)ps not fuel mapping has no fuel injection

Eagle, Rocket has said it pretty well as stock they have a grey wire (much like the Yamaha) that has a plug next to the CDI unit (mounted to the frame in front of the left hand radiator when sat on bike) that when connected (plugged into itself) runs the bike in ‘Power’ mode and when disconnected runs the bike in ‘traction’ mode.

The wire sometimes falls down under the fuel tank so he may need to take that off to get to it. You can easily run a handlebar switch to change between the two settings on the fly. A switch can be purchased from any reasonable bike shop. Apparently the Gas Gas ones are nice and small.

The 2 settings aren’t supposed to be wildly different on the 4 stroke bikes so tell your mate he’s not missing on much. By default they are supposed to be set in power mode (i.e., plug connected).

Tell your mate we are moving this to the Bullpit and if he wants the info. he has to sign up and read it :laugh:

That was kinda what I was thinking it would be I have heard of guys running the switch on the bars before & actually spoke to him about that today !!!

He is going to join maybe, I think anyway :blink: , he sounds keen for some rides in the New Year & has expressed interest in our group for sure

Beags as you can see Rocket and Moto have covered it pretty well, I did speak with them at Sutto’s today and they showed me where the wire was on a 300 smoker, they said its on all or almost all the KTMs.
Mal said they also sell a switch for it

Make sure you get an aftermarket switch, DO NOT tell hime to buy a KTM one, they are crap and they are huge! Mal should have a decent switch there.
