i put a bit of bling on it with some Zeta levers and Bling kit ,Samco hoses wacked a DEP full system on it and took it for its first run with me on it at Singleton . Took me a bit to get used to from my old 08 model YZ i had before the oversized front disc is great the updated KYB forks were even better

there hasn’t been much change to them but yes Yamaha being the only jap bike to stay with a full size smoker but they are still a very good bike on the track and in the bush

I thought after they rec the alloy frame they lasted a couple more years and that was it. Be nice to have one rec reg. They are prob fairly cheap too like $9k?

Awesome bike mate. I have an 04 yz250 that I use in the bush (louee/bike territory etc or private property) and it’s great! I’m curious about what size flywheel weight you have? I want one eventually for mine to help lessen the likelihood of engine stall and generally a little more bush orientated power delivery.(read-I’m getting older!)

you can buy bolt on weights but i went with a GYTR weight which is a whole fly wheel that you just swap out not bolt on to the existing flywheel its 8,04 ounces around the 9 ounces is the way to go they reckon . Its not just the bush back in the day Reed used them in supercross as well it just makes them hook up better and less chance of stalling by all reports just a smart add on to make the YZ 250 even better.
I will tell you after i ride it tomorrow what i think

Interesting stuff on the flywheel weight. Just looked up if they do them for the kato 250, there’s 9 and 11 oz available, I’ll have to do a bit of reading now…

    Go the smokers!
