Yeah mate we have one in the 530 and we ran them on Wolfman’s WR450 desert sled in the lead up and during the 14 day APC. They did a great job and seem very durable after many washes

    Good luck with it

    Cheers :)

I wasn’t happy with the way it fitted the Crf at all , didn’t seem to engage any where near as well as the stock or twin air. My local mechanic has seen dramas with them not sealing on a Crf with the obvious consequences.

On his advice mine sits on the shelf now :(

I don’t think the air box has changed on the x’s but not sure with the R ??
STM has a 2012 x and its identical to both my crfs .

Worth checking out I reckon , my mechanic recommended the twin air and it does give a great seal :)

Did you let funnel web know Jacko is it a one of or had they heard of it? I’m wondering if people had the same problem and they modified it since giving the amount of CRFs out there or it’s just yours?
I know Nick (Teknik’s) had a bit to do with the pre release of the CRFs into Aus and he recommends the use of standard Honda air filters

Hard to go past a twin air like you mentioned but ;) I do like unifilters as well they do a good job on the long desert dusty rides.

Like I said earlier the mechanic had seen the problem more than once so it’s not just me I don’t think , but I didn’t want to risk a problem so ditched it straight away !!

It was a $55 loss but that’s bugger all compared to the alternative :)

I think the foam seals so much better than the rubber in the crf air box especially using Motul oil , after this years very dusty Transmoto 12 hour the standard filter kept everything engine side spotless !!

The design does create more surface area with the peaks and valleys but it also creates a thin spot in the valleys. I used one on my WR for a short time before I sold it. In that time it did not let anything in but I kinda think that the traditional design does the job and it is not an area that I want to take risks on, especially with a CRF 250x!
You can’t ask for more than this

There you go proof is in the pictures, and like Jacko said the rubber seal doesn’t suit the CRF. Good thread ;)

I had one on my young fellas crf150. I didn’t like the way it sealed either. gone back to the genuine & twin air ones.

The stubby holders are pretty cool though :)

I emailed them & got this reply this morning,
He is sending me a free one so I will see how it fits before using & let you know.

    Quote:
    Hi Andy,
I am not aware of any issues with the seals on the ’08 CRF’s or any other filter in our range. The seals have been designed and moulded to fit both the filter support frame and the air box.
If I had purchased a product claiming to have improved performance although costing more and it didn’t perform as advertised, especially something as important as an air filter, I would be in contact with the manufacturer or distributor to resolve the problem. To my knowledge we do not have any outstanding issues in regard to this.
I appreciate you bringing this to my attention and in return I would like to send you a filter to suit your CRF with our compliments to try. Your feedback would be much appreciated.
Let me know your postal address if you would like to try one.

    Best regards,

    John Rickman
