Have been changing fork seals every few hundred Kms and I’m over it.
It has just blown out again after 230kms
    Any ideas??
I know what the problem is but its a bit of a hard fix without buying a new outer tube.
A new outer tube will cost 800 big ones. And will be a different colour anyway.
The problems lies with the bottom bush of the outer tube on the brake side
Where the bush fits has worn. Have tried new bushes a couple of times but eventually (2 or 3 hundred clicks) it starts leaking again. It becomes an issue when you grab a handfull of front brake and nothing happens.
Have looked at sleeving the tube but there really isn’t enough meet
    Any ideas would be appreciated
Looks as though I’m going to have suck it in and buy a newy.   :pinch:
    Cheers

    Thanks TB
I’m about to strip the fork down now
The plan is that I take the outer tube to work tomorrow and bore the worn area so as to make it perfectly round again (it has worn mostly on one side)
By placing the split bush on the inner tube I should be able to measure the outside diameter
This will be the original diameter of the bore where the bush sits
From there I will perhaps use shim or machine a sleeve to suit
Hope there is enough wall thickness on the tube
    Sounds like a plan
Certainly cheaper than a new outer tube
    Will update as I go

Has anybody had experience with aluminium Devcon or the likes??
Was thinking of smearing some of that in the bore and machining it back to the original size.
    Cheers

    Went with the aluminium Devcon
and its curing at the moment.
I have a large halegen light on it to speed the process up as it is not the best of days to be doing this sort of thing.
Bored the Devcon out to 52mm
Machined a leading edge in the bore and clean it up
    Should be a goer
If it is I have just saved myself $800+
    Cheers

    Murph,

I read the data sheet for Devcon and it looks the goods ;)

It does state for industrial use only

If anyone requires an industrial strength product its you

The ultimate Murphsberg is an industrial strength trail ride thats for sure

The worst that can happen is your seal will leak again, nothing ventured nothing gained :silly:

Or the fork will snap in half:pinch:
Have you looked into buying a set of second hand one’s, A guy I work with got a set of factory White Powers from the states for less than a grand delivered, a quick look on ebay i saw a couple of sets for less than 500 delivered, not sure exactly which ones you need though

Sounds like you may have nailed it Murph.

Tim may have a good option there if your keen to keep the old girl rolling for the future. If you can source same sized forks off similar years you might even be able to swap internals if you need. Forks do come up often.
