I somehow got an invite to Galeys super secret gun rider sunny corner tour. Must have been a slip of the mouse on the email list.
Anyway it was a 2 day ride earlier this month containing as much single track as he could link up and at a fair pace too. I only rode the Saturday. Knowing Galey’s fitness level is up there with Taddy I knew one day would be enough for me.
I’m not much good at writing reports so I’ll let the videos be the report.
Part 1

Enjoy.
December 25, 2011 at 10:26 pm #213659Actually mate you were my first choice rider. I needed a pro for the rest to pick up some tips from.
Great day mate. Top conditions with rain leading into the hours before the ride.
I have been hanging out for your vids more than Christmas. Sweating on the rest buddy.

I should be first choice sweep. It’s a challenge trying to keep you in sight on the singles mate.Had a great day although I wasn’t happy with my rear tyre choice.
December 25, 2011 at 10:57 pm #213666What is the best tyre for Sunny? Slippery clay , tyre munching rocky climbs, greasy tree root infested single tracks!
I do like the part 1 vid where you give Clarky a demo in the art of kick starting a GASGAS 300 at 1:38 .
Mal, obs you were taking it easy as you were still getting over the Coffs ride, you made a bad rear tyre choice, your sprockets and chain were past their best and you are still getting back to full fitness. Have I got everything?
Cheers for taking out my mishaps!
And you should know by now not to get to close to the rear of Marty400’s bike, esp on the fire trails! 👿

One that suits the size mousse I have would’ve been a good start. Felt like I had 18psi in the back.I do like the part 1 vid where you give Clarky a demo in the art of kick starting a GASGAS 300 at 1:38 . Yeah I go pretty quick when I need to.

I think he broke my headlight shroud with one of those rocks. Good fun though. :woohoo:

We were acually all around the same pace which made for a quick flowing ride. :woohoo:
Part 3 & 4 are 11min long and ready to upload. They take anout 4 – 5 hours to upload each and part 5 is 16min long and will get uploaded tomorrow some time. I have to upload when we’re not using the computers as it slows the upload and then fails on me.
December 26, 2011 at 12:24 am #213669Nice speed there Mal.
You were asking for a rock in that chase for sure. Don’t give the 4 strokes any room, all they do is throw rocks and make a racket.December 26, 2011 at 12:33 am #213661cant wait for the rest when ready, i would love to be as quick and as good as you guys but after not riding for ages it will take ages to be 1/2 as good but that is the excuss for me to get out there ,thanx for more incentive

I took a newbie from work out on some of those trails last week and he did well. I had sore legs from picking his bike up a lot (bloody 4 strokes are heavy). If you want a boot camp style ride go out with Galey or I can take you on tracks more suited to your current level and throw in a few challenges.
December 26, 2011 at 1:25 am #213662ill hold you to that mal5.1 that sounds like fun once im back from melbourne thanx for the offer
December 26, 2011 at 9:48 am #213675Great vids as usual Mal , I forgot how much fun some of those trails on the birthday ride this year were :woohoo:
I really enjoy the pine singles , something we don’t have up here !
It looked like the pace was on too , I had a hell of a job keeping Galey in sight when we went to get help for Mick so I can imagine how fit you’d need to be for a 2 day ride !!!

Clearly whats sticks out for me in both of this vids is the dominance of the 2T over the 4T. You gave Clarky a head start at the end of Part 1 and early in the piece of part 2 with the race up Mick’s Hill the 2T smoked em. No footage of the 4T getting to the top of Galey’s!
