I’m wondering if anyone has used a Garmin Edge 705 GPS unit with any success? I’m heading on the Bridge to Bridge ride and don’t have the 7-800 big ones to throw on a new wiz bang unit. I figure maps will load onto a 705 as well as anything else? Any input would be appreciated.

I am the guy loading the maps, have loaded hundreds may a thousand GPSs now and my first questions are

    What is a Edge 705?

How many waypoints can it store?

    Can it be hard wired?

Has it got a ram mount?

Is the screen big enough to see on the fly?

I just thought, umm I maybe better looking the answers up myself

I will get back to you

Its a pushy GPS, don’t think it can take topo maps, also I am not sure on its waypoint capability. Is it a ebay special Protty?
Maybe you can borrow / hire Krams or someones not going

Not an ebay special mate, paid 700 odd for it and have used it for setting courses for state rounds etc. It has topi maps, was just wondering if it would work. I don’t mind the smaller screen size because it’s less likely to get in the way, I’mm still getting my head around following a screen not bunting and arrows remember ha ha .

I don’t know how you guys run with the small screens
Picking the right time to read your gps can be critical and has come close to catching me out a couple of times.

Riding along at 100, look down and can’t see purple line, look back up, dust and sunlight flickering through the trees, look back down trying to find purple line, then finally find purple line and realise it looks to be going in a 90 degree fashion just up ahead   F#@& !!!!! Look up   F#@& F#@& F#@& !!!
Throw out all anchors and everything else you have to either stop, turn or just live through the next 10 seconds of your life. Open your eyes and pull the seat out of your arse to realise that not only did you live but you made the corner as well :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: sit back and feel chuffed with yourself cause you……shit……………………..should have turned left back there
And they say adventure riding is boring
