Like to say g’day to you all.. my name’s Adam. I’m 38 from ACT and ride a pretty sorted 99 XR600 that doubles as my trials, enduro, adventure trail sweeper and back up commuter. She got about 55,000km on original piston and rings so far and has gone through 3 stators so far but thats it so far as break downs go. Been with the DSMRA for a while and always keen to meet new mates. I’ve had a few DRZ400’s and several other XR’s and CR’s but always had my beaut 600 and after a near fatal brain snap that nearly saw me sell it, it’s the only bike I will never sell now.
I recently had a CRF250x and loved it alot but was spending more money in maintenance than I could justify to the missus and my 2 girls. So regardless of how damn good it was and fast, and handling like nothing i’ve ridden before.. it got sold..Sniffle Sob!! and my XR was given the number one job again. I ride road bikes as well rain hail or pain but the dirt is my real love.
I’m really wanting something more focused again after having the CRF250x. It might end up being a KTM 300 or a WR450 I dunno yet but sorry to say Honda won’t be on the cards for a modern enduro regardless how well they handle and perform.
Anyway thats me in a few words. Nice site just right full magura.

March 17, 2011 at 8:22 am #198248Welcome to OBT Adam, Look forward to meeting you. There is some good riding down your way, I was lucky enough to ride with the DSMRA down there a few years ago and met some really good people.
March 17, 2011 at 8:58 am #198255Gday Adam,
Thanks for the intro and as the other guys have said “welcome to OBT”
I had a 2000 model XR600 that I was very happy with ( I sold it and got a XR650) but have to agree with TB, the 650 is so much better again. Get the link sorted for the pic of your Xr as I would like to see it.
Cheers

March 17, 2011 at 2:13 pm #198250Howdy Adam,
when my sister was living in Tumbarumba i always wanted to try and see if i could ride from there to the ACT through the forest.
i wasn’t confident enough to have a crack on my own, as at that time i didn’t have a GPS or any idea for that matter.
have you done any riding out that way?

STMNothing unusual just more money in oils and filters than petrol.. plus tyres, bling, bits and busted fun replacement parts.. then valve economics at 1600km and onwards.. you know it if you research them or own one but don’t get me wrong it was a really hot ride and so Red.. but… back to the future for reliable honda

Yeah not too far away there mate and I love Tumba Wee Tumut riding district.
Man we’re lucky for our location.. such good stuff and as challenging as you wanna make it… GPS is great but you don’t remember much if your watching the digital nav box. I keep GPS for help i’m really lost and low on fuel capers.. we never had GPS not too long ago and only get more lost using them I reckon sometimes… I’m not so good with tech shiz..
Learn by paper maps, google maps, and people resources great but eye sight memory will last a life time over your follow the dot plan and you’ll go back again to check to refresh your memory which is learning and clocking up kays as awell.
I’m off the bikes for a couple of months at least due to post surgery L middle finger tendon repair so I can’t pop over for a visit yet but your not far away at all by main trails… Check in with the DSMRA.. HUGE old bullock resources there mate that lobby for our lifestyle and are about the only real driving force keeping the fanatical Greenie dreadlocked boombarah, uneducated wilderness closure rate at a limited rise. GRRRR…
BTW what you ride mate?

MickIs it the motor that is what you mean by so much better again, or the whole package set up with Teknic suspension and dampeners, bars and Vortex etc.
I do love the big bull dozer XR mentality of riding through not skipping over, but honestly thats only when I’n not riding a CRF…
Now I have to decide whether to set up a 650 or go for a modern KTM300 as in 08 up or very low km 2009 + KTM – WR450. Plus my 600 needs a fresh top end soonish which adds about 800 bucks to the modern project because it won’t really become a priority if I buy a newer machine and if that fails then i’m back to a tired old faithful XR6 that needed a rebuild years ago plus suspension service

Damnit to much time to think and not enough to ride.March 18, 2011 at 12:54 am #198315xy-transit wrote:hi Crow3 or it it Crowe like the kids th3s3 day5 using numbers for letters?i ride an AG bike.

Yeah mate it really should be just crow but different forum users have got in first over the years and I just get confused if I try variations of the same name plus various passwords too.. too much to remember and too shitty at typing quick…
Its a really old net handle too as well a nickname given because i kept stopping to pick up stuff i’d see, that also happened to include bike gear from mates poorly tied racks or just camera’s and radio’s from other unfortunate people.
I’m always spying shiny stuff of interest that often may end up on ebay after a clean up or returned to an owner..
So Cr0w3 is me on ebay , Ozvfrs, Canberrariders, Dirtbikeworld, VRD, ADVrider, and IRC.Found this for a LC4…

.March 18, 2011 at 1:17 am #198253yeah i know how it is with handles. i’m xy on a few places too.
March 18, 2011 at 1:17 am #198316Looks like you have the perfect ADV setup with the 6hundy. Get a modern Enduro bike and you will have the best of both worlds. Wait and see what the 2011 WR450 looks like. Surely this must be the year.
