I’m a newbie to any forum type stuff, normally just catch up with like minded dirt jockeys at random.
My name is Trev and I live on the Sunshine Coast in Qld. Been 40 for a few years now but can still make it up the hills OK.
Have had an ol’ faithful XR600 RJ (yes it’s an ’88 model and no it’s not in a museum), by my side for about 18 years now, and still shudder at the thought of swappin saddles. Happy to jump on for a taste of the future here and there but we’ve been too many places together to part ways. Toughest bike I’ve ever come across and can take more punishment than ALL that have challenged it. I have been looking at some 650’s lately and I think that’s why my kick starter just snapped. Just like women, you can hide NOTHING. (see attachment – if it works?)
Used to live in Sydney and rode a lot around Taree, Watagans, Barrington Tops but now we frequent the glorious Kenilworth, Imbil, Amamoor area.
A couple of mates (team orange) are headin to Coffs soon for a well organised ride (forgive the details as I am not able to participate with bub # 3 looming and am trying to put it out of my head).
Anyway, that’s me and I will no doubt stick my head in every now and again. Shame I can’t ride this OBT you guys are talking about, got yourselves some good numbers, should be an awesome weekend coming up.
Cheers
Trev
Honda – Power of DreamsMay 23, 2011 at 2:09 am #201794Well, How do you do Trev
Welcome to the Nuthouse mate, it is a bit hectic at the moment, the big anniversary ride is on this weekend with most of us kicking off the festivitites friday morning :woohoo:Look forward to hearing more from you mate,,,,
May 23, 2011 at 9:53 am #201802Gday Trev. A man after my own heart. Gotta love the XR600. I have an 88 XR here in a million bits, so if there are other things you need I probably have it. Also have a 95 XR in similar condition. So spares are not a problem. Will have a look in the shed before work this morning for a kick starter 100% sure I have one, check your private messages for the details. Not long ago spent a week up your way at Twin Waters, nice spot up that way.
Welcome aboard OBT and thanks for the intro.
Cheers
MickMay 23, 2011 at 10:28 am #201811Been down the shed and found this.
Pretty sure that is what you are after Trev. It even says kickstarter on it in case you aren’t sure…LOL
May 23, 2011 at 10:45 am #201795Welcome aboard Trev.
Good to see I am not alone having babies at 40 :silly: I live on the Coffs Coast and in November I host a ride. Keep your eye out for the details as you are more than welcome to join us. We have some Old Bulls based in Noosa who you can catch up with in the meantime.
Enjoy the site.STM
May 23, 2011 at 1:34 pm #201814G’day Trev, I have some relo’s up at Pamona on the Sunshine coast and would love to get my bike up there one day for some exploring, welcome to the site
May 23, 2011 at 10:47 pm #201815Thanks for that STM,
Yeah you don’t want to get to the end and think ‘I wish I did have some babies’, so away we go!
You don’t happen to have anything to do with the Coffs Harbour Detour in mid July do you?
Have a couple of mates who are probably headin down for that but my # 3 bub is due late July and I wouldn’t miss that for the world.
I will keep in touch with this site and eventually sort out some details for your mates up this way to go adventuring with.
Cheers
TrevMay 23, 2011 at 10:55 pm #201812Mick your a bloody legend!
See we have very similar taste in Honda, but your line about one in a million bits is gettin me all teary.
Got your email, thanks for your efforts and I will call you either tonight or tomorrow for a quick chat.
Twin Waters is a great place and even though it’s at my back door, we have stayed there a number of times over the years. I have a voucher that needs to be used for a night in a King Suite that I need to use up. With a bub looming soon ….. I think we are going to need it.
Great bunch of blokes here.
Will be it touch soon.

TrevHi Trev
I have nothing to do with Detour but I hear they run an excellent service. I am a not for profit organisation set up to keep Old Bulls happy. :cheer:
Good luck with the little one.STM
May 23, 2011 at 11:27 pm #201868I also can vouch for Coffs Detour, I have done a weekend with Boris. It is still a ride ( of the thousands I have done) that sticks in my mind. Boris is a top bloke and puts on a great ride. Worth every cent, Tell them to do it!!
