another ride at my old stomping ground began with 5 of us.
me
choppa
boothy
billt
leigh.we had a coffee and kitted up in the abnormally hot morning sun .
heading off i noticed how bloody dusty it was, havent seen dust for a while, it was different. :laugh:hitting our first track for the day felt like being home again.
it felt like forever had passed since choppa and i had been there. Ahhh, rocky, shaley, hilly heaven  :laugh:when we got into the thick of it we found most of the main tracks had been freshly graded, which made them smooth and as wide as a highway in some spots
new school – old school
stopping for a map check and a story or two about the end of the world from boothy
all was goin well till we hit this creek crossing which was a good foot deeper than normal, with a fallen tree across it right where we had to ride.
leigh and i had waded in to clear the way. it was about 30 degrees and i was so hot i was glad to get into the water. it was refreshing
as usual, choppa was being the impatient guinnypig and decided to give it a go. there is a deep spot and we all held our breath as he hit it. his little legs had nothing to stand on and down he went, belly deep.  the burg gulped a mouthfull of water and stopped dead.leigh and i moved some more tree and we all made it across easily.
boothy transversing. about a foot to his right is the dreaded “husaberg hole”
choppa and leigh emptying the husaberg “teapot”……tip me over and pour me out
leigh, drying out the filter
choppa fighting with the spark plug
“freds pool”…..ahhh, the serenity!!
i sat on my arse and ate lollies and checked out the scenery while the boys battled to get the plug out of the berg. it pumped a fair mouthful out and fired up easily once it was all back together.
boothys footpeg after high siding it into the scrub. every stack is spectacular with him
leigh, hanging out to climb the next hill
bills steed calling him…..
we did about 110kms and it was bloody hot!! and dusty!! but good fun.
we got back to the caravan park for a feast that cheryl had whipped up and with a few umms and ahhs we decided that it was too hot and drinking was the only answer
bill and leigh had a quick beer before leaving for home. they were both knackered, as were the rest of us.
chop and i kept drinking all arvo and had a braille talking competition happening. i cant remember who won, but it was an early night :silly:
it was happy days

September 21, 2009 at 12:08 am #153578It is good to see choppa’s engine is finally the correct way up…..LOL
I had a great day so did Leigh, sorry I was a bit slow sending the pic’s to you.
Also thanks to Choppa & his wife for the great lunch and spread that she had prepaired for us all. Never had a lunch like that before on a trail ride, we were spoilt.
Once we settled down for lunch after doing 110K’s there was no hope of getting us back out on the trail….
Hope to catch up for another ride soon.
